useful in a different way.
i bought this stone with the intention of touching up a razor sharp edge on an s35vn blade while at work. (i cut a lot of paper) although the stone is supposed to be "super fine" it is a little too aggressive for this task. i won't be using it for maintaining an edge, however for $10 it does an excellent job lapping stones for my lansky clamp sharpener.
