Eldris yellow 2.2 " blade knife
I expect that I will use this knife, recently bought from knife center, for several purposes. My primary use however, will be as a bait and tackle knife. I do a lot of fresh and saltwater fishing and over the years have used many, mostly three and a half inch and four inch blades for tackle and bait. Rule number one; do not buy any of those junk knives being sold in the big box stores. They are a waste of time and money. I get good results from Mora models 511 and 711 but sometimes in close working conditions those are just too much blade. (cleaning and dressing out a larger fish is an altogether different job). The knife I just received came with a reasonably sharp blade but not razor sharp. I have honed it on my 4000 grit stone and with just five passes on each side of the blade brought it to a good razor sharpness. On a good quality new knife it is not wise to use a coarse or medium stone. A fine stone is all that is necessary. For a tackle knife you really do want a razor sharp edge to get a clean cut on monofiliment line.. The knife locks securely into the plastic sheath with a click.. The knife can then be reliably used as a neck knife... Any color wound have been acceptable but I went for yellow because I have a spool of yellow paracord and have made a good adjustable lanyard. This looks like a good knife. No regrets....
