Superb for it’s intended purpose
So I know this is a very expensive Mora. I’ve heard people complain about the steel for the price. After using this for almost a year here is what I can say. The fit and finish are comparable with a custom knife twice that price. About the steel - yes it’s still 12C27, but if you read their website Mora tells you they heat treat it different to get a 58HRC as opposed to the 56HRC on the Companion. Trust me, you can tell the difference. The way I look at it 12C27 is to Mora what 420HC is to Buck - they know how to get it to do what they want. Here’s the thing - if you want a bushcraft knife that has a heavy emphasis on CRAFTING - gathering and shaping natural materials into useful objects - then this is a phenomenal blade. The grind geometry (different than a Garberg), handle, etc. are tuned perfectly for this purpose. It’s not a survival knife, and it’s only a passing fair camp knife, but if you want to build fires and make stuff in the woods - it’s awesome! So expensive yes - but not necessarily overpriced depending on how you want to use it.
