Best Value for Beginners
It has been very easy for me to achieve a respectable edge on the various kitchen knives and penkinives I have used this kit on. Speaking as someone with zero experience in sharpening, I am pleased with my results.

Disappointed
Reviewed the product and applied it (as instructed) to two knives. It performed well enough on the first blade. However, while using the Fine Hone on the second blade, the hone fell out of the holder and will not reattach ... it will require an adhesive to cement the stone to the holder. Does this mean I will be required to purchase individual hand holders to cement the stone to continue sharpening blades. I was very hopeful regarding this system. More junk. This is a follow-up of my first review regarding the Gatco hones. I am returning to the system and giving it a second chance after storing this kit out of disgust following first time use. After light use, the Fine hone separated from the hone handle. Currently, the remaining hones all separated from the honing handle applied to the first knife since first use. Also, with light use on three small blades the hones visibly show a dip in the central part of the hone where they have worn down, already (3 blades, light use). I may have received the lemon in the manufacturing process. Really wanted to like this kit following positive reviews. Did I mention JUNK?
