Gerber Gator Brush Thinner

This is one super product. The blade is of excellent quality very sturdy and sharp. The handle is also of excellent quality and your hand fits to it very comfortably. And I must comment on the sheath which is one excellent product. The blade fits it like a fine leather glove.

Great Chopper

This knife is excellent for what it was designed for and for home defense. I tested it on a cardboard box and with the teflon coating it cut much deeper than an uncoated blade. The soft material on the handle gives you a very solid grip. The size and weight are just right for balance and speed.

Already Own One

I mainly use it to whack brush to keep my trails clear or for shooting lanes for my treestands. I already own one and decided to get 2 more because I like my old one so much and they are good to have around. Once you sharpen it up, it holds a nice edge, it's durable and cuts green brush and limbs easily. I like the new grip on the handle compared to my old one. It's more comfortable. I don't have anything negative to say. I've read people complain it isn't sharp when you get it, but that's just how they come. I'm sure it has to do with the liabilities if someone hurt themselves messing with a sharp one in a store. As with any similar tool, they are not meant to cut dead wood easily. Most who cut wood know it will simply bounce off dead limbs and branches. Best to use a different tool for that sort of job.

I have wanted a small machete for some time now, because the trails around the area is overgrowing. I liked the shape of this tool, looks a lot like Fiskars X3 that we have in shops here in Norway, but at a much better price. The tool works perfectly, chops through branches and even small trees without problem at all. It's not very sharp, but it doesn't have to be, the job is done mostly by weight and momentum. The only minor negative is the sheath, I would like to see a loop or a hole in the top so I could carry it upside down over my chest.

Gerber Gator Brush

I lost my first Brush Thinner with the plastic handle so I bought the new model with the Gator handle and it's a big improvement. The handle absorbes the shock better and grip is better then the plastic one. Perfect size to carry. I tied a cord through the belt loop to make a shoulder strap and carry it across my chest. Great for clearing brush and cutting shooting lanes. Very sharp and heavy duty blade.

efficiency at maximum

Now is 3 years of continous use and abuse of this knife(???)and I can say is the most efficient machete never owned. The shape can look strange at first sight but don't be deceived it is an excellent product. In three years I have use pratically on everything from brush to tree limbs( can be also an hatchet)and I never ever sharpened and still sharp , not as first day but quite sharp.

Awesome Machete

Working on a land surveying field crew I clear a lot of brush. The Gator is by far my favorite cutting tool in the field. The Gator will cut almost anything from 4 inch trees to small branches. Tall grass can be a problem. The blade is very durable and holds an edge very well. Every once in a while, after extremely hard use it needs to be sharpened. The handle is very ergonomic. The balance is great. The only drawback is the sheath does not last very long, very poor choice of material. Overall an EXCELLENT machete.

Using this after a recent snow storm brought down limbs, I found that nothing could stand in it's way! Cut's through the samll stuff like butter, and with a few hacks easily cuts up to three or four inch trees, limbs, bushes, etc.

Get's you out of thick brush

Once you sharpen the blade it works wonders. I have cut anything from saplings to small trees. It is definitely worth the money. If you live in a state that is loaded with breyers in the woods, it is highly recommended that you purchase this tool. The only thing bad about it is you need to spend time to sharpen the tool. The sheath is made of nylon, and the machete can come out when it's not needed.

Excellent aside from the handle

I used this tool to great effect for 2 years and was quite satisfied with it. However, while trimming some hedges the handle snapped roughly halfway down. I plan to purchase another one.
