Great for deer hunting

I used this knife for eviscerating four deer this past November! I have since bought three more for gift's to my close friends!!!!! The blade held its edge through all four deer. The handle material was a huge plus when covered with blood. Quality knife that I expected from a quality Company!!!

Great little knife.

The knife came fairly sharp right out of the box. It is comfortable in my hand. I like the very "tacky" feel of the handle material. It will make a great hunting knife. The sheath is pretty basic but will be just fine. For the money this is a great knife.

Good Overall Knife

Bought the fixed and folding version for my wife. She likes both of them. The fixed blade she uses to butcher goats, she really likes the rubber type grip. Overall it is a good solid knife. The price is very good, and it is an attractive knife.

Good knife for Regular use

I AM NOT A TROPHY, DESTINED FOR LIFE BEHIND THE SHEATH. I AM A WORKHORSE. ABUSE ME. CONFUSE ME. I DON’T CARE – JUST USE ME. I WANT TO GET MUDDY AND BLOODY. SINK MY TEETH INTO A SITUATION. BREAK SOME GLASS AND SAVE SOME ASS. I AM BLOOD AND GUTS AND GLORY. I AM DESIGNED TO DO. This id what Gerber says about their knives. I think this knife fits the description. Sturdy, sharp (but not hair removing sharp) with little work I made it hair sharpening.

Ok knife

The knife overall is fine fur the Price. Some sharp corners on the handle need to be filed away. The handle material sucks big time .... though it very secure in the hand it is absolutely not abrasion resistant, in fact an erasure is better in this regard. Good point is that the scales are screwed on and easily replaced with a more durable material -at least if you are skilled enough to do it. Sheath is nothing to speak of.

A good medium sized knife

I started using the Freeman Guide immediately upon getting it from Knife Center. So far, it has been used for general cutting tasks and put through hard use for clearing a garden area. The grip, size and weight are good attributes. The sharpness upon unpacking was adequate though not excellent. The edge held though without chipping after being used for chopping wood using a baton. I would have preferred the sharpness to be better out of the packing than it was. The nylon sheath has a plastic case into which the blade drops into. This could have been improved further and the finishing is not good at all for the casing that came with the knife. A better case would greatly improve the value of this knife. The knife itself is a good one for this price.

It could have been better.

I was looking for a small straight bladed knife for carry and this one looked to fill my needs. Yeah, it looked good... The scales feel great and have lots of traction but need to be larger. To much of the tang gimping protrudes and abrades my hand. The blade on the one I received actually has a bend in the cutting edge that was there before it was sharpened. It was still a good sharp blade but I was disappointed in the lack of quality control. The sheath is a poor excuse for a sheath but it is functional till the nylon belt loop breaks. I've owned several Gerber over 4 decades and this is the first one I've been disappointed in.

Not Worth the Price

I wish I knew before purchasing that this is a cheap knife that is made in China. I assumed that because it is a Gerber that it is of good quality, and I over paid because of the Gerber name. The knife blade is of the same material that I paid for other cheap kitchen knives, like the $10 kitchen knives I have purchased at Smart & Final. At least when I bought those I paid what the knife was worth, and purchased the knife with this knowledge. Also, the sheath is awful.
