Best knife ever bought

I have had this model of gerber for almost 20 years and have taken it on hundreds of campings. If you treat your knife well it will last. Anyone saying it will rust is because they have not maintained it well. It still looks great and has never given me any problems. The serrated edge is still sharp. i have only had to sharpen the main edge 2x. A little mineral oil after a camping trip goes a long way.

Great Knife!

I've honestly never heard of this site, but happened across it and read the horrible reviews and made an account just to correct that. As far as the company, I've ALWAYS preferred Gerber over every other brand I've tried. I've owned dozens of knives over the years, most of which were Gerber knives. This one is one of my favorites. This knife is AMAZING! I've own this one for about 5 months, now. Yes, it IS hard to open one-handed. But, after some lubrication, it opens one-handed with ease. Locking mechanism is VERY sturdy. It's never failed to lock on a first try. As for the rusting that's been reported in another review. That's complete bull... I get mine wet CONSTANTLY and I've never seen a hint of rust. In fact, I just check it all over and in every crack and crevice. No sign of rust at all. As an added bonus, if you are required to defend yourself with this knife, it's great for that, too. Just flip it around, put your pinky in the hole, and it gives you a very firm grip.

great climbing knife

I use this knife for my climbing/ rescue knife. Love the fact it will clip to a carabiner. I wish it had better one hand opening.

It's a Gerber you get what you pay for

Not a bad knife, but I wouldn't say it's a good knife either. The finger hole is interesting but eventually the novelty of it wears of and you realize it's just another mediocre knife. I will admit I seldom even consider buying a Gerber knife and I was honestly impressed with this knife in some respects. It can actually take a very nice edge and I could shave with it after giving it a good sharpening. The coatings also give it an interesting appearance, and i do like the looks of the knife, but the materials are a mystery to me and it's not exactly user friendly. If you don't mind using two hands to open your knife or taking some time to open it one handed then there really isn't much wrong with this knife. I just find it cumbersome to open and not the most comfortable match to my hands. The lock is simple and I never had issues with it and the knife seems pretty solid and has a nice weight to it but I guess this knife just isn't for everyone.

ish

I have couple of folding knives but this one is not the best at all. It is not easy to open it even after couple of hundred opening/closing but the worst: it is possible to close it without releasing the locker. :( I don't like when it is possible to cut my fingers because of a wrong lock. The design is OK, the knife look is nice but outside that i cannot tell any positive...
