great little folder

This is a great little skinner. I own the Havalon and find this handle a bit less hand filling but better shaped. It is mostly hard plastic so doesn't feel the same as the Havalon which is aluminum. It is very compact, very usable. I take squirrel tails off with it and it skins them and other small game very well. Haven't used it for anything else yet. It carries in the pocket well and has a good clip. The Havalon came with a cheap sheath, this one did not. I am quite happy with it. It is not heavy duty though and won't fill in for a heavy knife. No surprise there. I like the lock back design, it is safer to close than the Havalon which uses a liner lock.

"Scary Sharp"

I use the Vital for everything, Pretty much anything except for turning screws etc. Extra blades available at Bass Pro Shop #60XT If you're looking for a carryable scalpel then look no further.. **WARNING** These blades are extremely sharp & will cut you if you look at them wrong.. Pay great care in replacing blades or you'll be getting stitches..

Gerber Vital Folding Exchange-A-Blade Knife

I like that you can replace the blade. The blade fit is a little loose as compared to the other brand I own. I very much like how easy it is to change the blade. The light weight is a big plus.

Broke after 3 weeks of medium to light use.

Im a shuttle semi driver for my company around town. I cut box straps and tape occasionally. Rarely ever cut anything thicker then paper. Sometimes cut shrink wrap around skids. Nothing special or tough. Goes through like butter. (Razor blades are 9/10 quality) however with a small flurish downward to cut some box straps on a load it got caught in the cardboard. Sheared the razor as I would expect. Unfortunately it also snapped the whole locking block off and the pin that held it looks pathetic and weak. I press on it woth my thumb nail and the ridges break.
