Carried through three combat tours - a GREAT knife

A US Marine introduced me to this sturdy knife more than ten years ago. It replaced the model that I had carried for the previous eighteen years. I've carried this knife through one support tour in Kuwait and two combat tours in Afghanistan. It is my backup dive knife and does well in salt water. It can be easily opened with one hand (thumb or wrist-snap). The thin rubber strip provides a good friction surface and the blade is quite sturdy. I removed the clip because it just snags on things. I am ordering six - four Christmas gifts, a new one for me and a backup.

love this knife

Carried this model for years, and lost two so far. It is the best knife for the price. Opens quickly, holds an edge, and you won't lose sleep if you lose one. You can buy one from this site and pay the postage, and it is still cheaper than Wal-Mart. This is the best deal around, and I'll keep buying them here.

Excellent Knife

I have been carrying this knife for almost 1 year and I love it. For an in-expensive knife it sure holds an edge. I am a reserve Sheriff's Deputy and carry it as a back up. I also use it while hunting.(it made short work of butchering a hog I killed)

A Win For Gerber

Every since I saw this knife, I've wanted it. It's very good looking, and the cut outs in the blade make it that much more appealing. Plus, you can open this knife very easily by just inserting your fingers into the skeleton holes and flicking open the handle. Believe it or not, you actually have a very good handle on it this way too; besides just the normal way of holding the handle. There is a strip of rubber on it which helps with grip but it could be in a couple more places to improve handling. The only downside is the lockback itself feels like a hard plastic rather than stainless steel. Other than that, this is a cheap priced, well made, American pocket knife!

Great knife

Use this knife every day cutting packages open, cutting insulation off wire cutting tape rope just a great knife to have, Had other knifes but always go back to this one. I have had the original for over 25 years its getting long on the tooth now, thought I would retire it and get 2 to replace it. One extra in case I lose one . Handle never broke surprised because I .abuse it Great light weight Thank you for still selling such a Great product at a reasonable price.

Very well full size folder, and made in the United States; Portland, O

This probably mirrors my writing on the EZ-out Jr. Only difference here is this one is full size; so it is a breeze to one hand open. And the cut-outs are proportionally larger; so it also has quite the visual to it also. Sometimes; a visual can be an optic should a blade ever be needed; perhaps as needed in a visually discouraging manner so to speak. As with the EZ-Out junior; it flat out states on the Blade; Portland, Oregon. I literally don't care how fancy, costly; cool; or otherwise blah blah blah anybodies else's blade is. Hi. My knife is made in America. Conversation stops. I mean, seriously. Some fool has the cash to buy some $$$ thing from anywhere else; and he (or she) skipped on getting one of these for a third or less of the money? Take the money saved; gift or donate the extras you can purchase with it. Last time I bought a few was in the middle 2000s'. Pleasant to say; no change in quality or craftsmanship; and again. Hi. My blade was made in America. Yes, I am *proud* to own some really, really fine examples that we can still do it; and do it correctly; here in the United States. I'm going to stop now; and I'm adding this to my positive emanations here.- I am *not* being paid, promoted, or otherwise compensated for my time words or whatever here, and nor will I ever be. I've bought this item in the past; and having bought several of them again; well; do yourself a positive; give this instrument a try. Odds are quite high you'll be back to get a few more at some point in time.

Best Knife Ever !

Best knife ever made. Light, tough and compact. Will last until you loose it. And then your going to cry.... (The only "CON" is the pocket clip, but all pocket clips are a waste. It is easy to take off though)

No worries knife

I carry this as one of my beater knives around the ranch and use it to cut hay bail twine, remove broken pieces of horse hoof, trim small branches and generally abuse it every chance I get. Because the price is right, I don't hold back like I would with a more expensive knife. Because the thumb hole Is large, I have no trouble opening the blade. The skeleton pattern is aesthetically pleasing to my eye and the handle fits my hand well. The half way open detent takes a little getting used to but turns out to be a safety feature when closing. The somewhat flimsy construction makes me wonder how long this knife will hold together, but hey, what do you expect for cheap?

Hidden use

I had one of these as a kid with serrations and lost it... stole my dads fine edge and had it for a decade, it too wandered off. It's not the best knife, not the best steel, decent handle, blah blah blah... I liked it and ordered another because of the skeleton holes... they work great when opening oxygen bottles of square and rectangle variety when one runs out on the ambulance. Great multi use tool!

Keep coming back to it.

Have one of these since they first came out. Have / had one of most makers / models that looked sexy to begin with. This one does'nt do any one task well, but its in my pocket now. Enough said.

Still a great EDC knife

I still have and prefer the original (non-skeleton) version, but this knife has been a consistent excellent everyday working knife even with the skeletonized blade. I have a farming friend who will not go into the field without the knife that I gave him. Great weight, easy to open, easy to keep sharp, and easy to keep clean. The combo blade takes on most any cuting job for a pocket knife.

U.S. Coast Guard issued

My fiance just got this exact knife issued to her by the United States Coast Guard. I would assume because the serrations are good for cutting wet rope which she will have to do often while underway on boats. I have not personally used it, however, i would assume since it's good enough for the Coast Guard, it's good enough for anyone.
