I put this paste on the leather side of Illinois brand strop I purchased at the same time. Some reviews say the red paste is to coarse for everyday stropping. I find it to be excellent for 1-2 times per week. Before, I used to have to strop a blade almost twice as long to get the edge back. Now it takes 4-6 strokes on each side and then 2-3 on a strop without paste and it's back to smooth shaving.
