Quality knife blades

I am using these products to make presents for my children. I prefer Helle knife products due to the quality of the metal. Have purchased a Viking for my own personal everyday garden use and find it easy to keep razor sharp and it has the weight to cut through vines, stalks, cord and anything that I need to cut with ease. Would recommend this product highly.

Feels good to hold

Made knife as a Christmas present with the blade and piece of fruitwood stump. It worked above my expectations. Feels so good,I bought a Viking as an all purpose tool to carry. Plan to make three more one for each of my four children. Looking for blades and grommets---your price????

Insanely sharp

Nicely shapened, everything as advertised for sure. This finish on it is rugged and cool looking deff not scared to use it. Will be making my handle with Purple Heart wood or zebra wood.

Blade is twisted

Helle finished knives are generally good quality. My main complaint is the Scandinavian grind. Either a center line was not used or the guy grinding was inexperienced because the edge is twisted. So it takes a bunch of work to re-grind a straight edge. The edge is also way off center. Disappointed with that but their laminated steel is good. I know it's the "Viking" model and supposed to be rough from the forge but that's no reason for rushing through all the grinding and it's also stamped or "hot cut" so one edge is a sharp 90 degree and the other is round. If you want a nice fit on the joint for a hidden tang you have to file off a bunch of metal. Almost to the point of re-profiling the spine and ricasso area. If none of that bothers you it's a decent price minus the poor, off center, uneven and twisted grind. The "from the forge" finish looked pretty bad. Not anything like a Japanese kuro-uchi, "black hammered" finish. I sanded and finished at 1000 grit instead. If you know all this and it doesn't bother you then it's worth it as a little project hopefully yours is better out of the box. Other models of Helle blade kits ship in excellent condition with a little squaring of the tang using a file and some sort of jig for a really tight fit.
