New favorite

When I decided to buy this knife I wasn't sure if I would like it. I took a chance and I am happy about it. When I opened the box and deployed the blade I fell in love with it. It's now my favorite EDC knife. The only complaint I have is the safety is a little stiff, but I know it will get easier the more I use it. The quality is there, and I am happy with the factory edge. Too many times I bought a high end knife that had a terrible edge.I think I just became a fan of Hogue knives.

HK Ballista in Black with Red Trim Drop point

Really a great knife for everyday carry, I will use it for dressing out deer also. The blade is sharp out of the box. The deep pocket clip hides the knife well. I like to put>> knife in my watch pocket. Clipped to my belt. Some exposure here, but it is what it is! Makes for easy access and does not rub on your hand when working stuff out of one's right jean pocket. { Change and keys etc} The knife is great for large handed people like me. I like the safe lock location. A bit stiff. Jibbing helps here. The blade launches out well. A 5" nylon snap lock knife holder is ordered >>>for those days out hunting, packing in possibles in the fanny pack.

Really good knife, with one caveat

This is a good-sized, very snappy auto folder. Great action on this one. Hogue and H&K teaming up says this should be an almost perfect knife. It is, but as a G10 lover, this "Chromacut" isn't great. It does allow a great grip, but it is overly aggressive to me and it does make it difficult coming out of the pocket and I find it to attract every piece of lint and fuzz within 15 feet of it. The red and black contrast looks great, but they should have done one layer and called it a day. The blade geometry is good and it was nice and sharp out of the box, but due to the overly aggressive handle texturing, it isn't going to be an EDC for me. That's a bit disappointing at this price. Would I buy it again? Probably, but I would check for aftermarket scales, first.
