IT’S A KEEPER
This is my fourth OTF and is presently my edc. First was a blade show special Ultratech next was also a Microtech, the combat troodon. I then got the Benchmade Infidel and now this Heretic Manticore X. I really like them all but each one is different. The Manticore X is a large sized OTF with a 3.7 inch recurve blade. It arrived nicely packaged with a small bottle of lube included. The handle slabs are nice and comfortable with some texturing and jimping in all the right places use for use in various hand grips without any hot spots. There are no screws on the show side at all except those of the reversible pocket clip, and has a nice looking pocket clip which has good retention. You can even get replacement clips in various colors that have a small roller ball for even easier placement and withdrawal. The firing button is large, nicely shaped and not too aggressively jimped. The blade fires out and retracts with a firm push or pull on the firing slide. The blade flies out and back in with a nicely loud snap without any blade play. The sound itself alone, of it deploying, may deter a potential threat. The recurve blade is made of high end CPM MagnaCut steel which makes it very durable, strong, rust resistant, and has great edge retention. It came literally razor sharp and easily shaved hairs off my arm. Slices thru paper like a hot knife thru butter. There’s no branding at all on the handle scales or blade giving it a very clean look. The Heretic name and serial number are placed on the firing slide actuator side of the handle which is covered by your hand when holding the knife. There is even a small glass breaker ball on the end which can come in handy and makes this a multi-tool ( ha ha ). All in all this is a very nice OTF, is my present edc, and can highly recommend it. Definitely a keeper! PS: Of course it came quickly and securely packaged from KC.
