Pros: None
Cons: Overall Quality, Durability
Leather strip is very thin ..expected something much thicker
First Knife Center is my one stop destination for all things "knives" This strop , however, is a departure from the quality I have received in virtually every other product. First, as as a fellow who never used Strops before there are no instruction pertaining to the sequence of use..canvas first or canvas second. Second, the leather strop has a paper thin thickness on the leather side ...maybe my inexperience, but after stropping a few knives I had scraped off this ultra thin layer in several places ... down to the raw unrefined leather not suitable for its intended use. On the plus side, I stropped after using my DMT diamond sharpeners and went right to the canvas then the leather and got a hair popping edge / result. Suggest an insert ( very inexpensive that explains how to use it and the sequence of canvas and leather. For the price a paper thin layer of leather that scratches off so easily is unacceptable. It did produce a sharp edge on every knife ( 5 ) I used but I doubt it is durable enough to last very long ..I could return it ( knife center is great about returns ) but a low dollar and value product is not worth my time. Conversely after only using my Fine DMT sharpener it produced a great edge on various high quality Steel blades.
