THE ORIGINAL commando dagger

This is a terrific knife. The blade is shiny metal, just as Fairbairn recommended for it's pyschological effent on an opponent. I'm very happy with this purchase. 5 stars!

Good Craftsmanship for a Reproduction

There are tons of Fairbairn Sykes reproductions out there, and many of them are extremely poor quality. The Scorpion F-S is a really good reproduction. The edge of the knife is not meant to be sharp, this is not a cutting instrument. Of course, there are people out there that even find the Scorpion reproduction unacceptable; and that's understandable to a degree. However, unless you have an F-S custom made, or buy an original, I'd say this is about as accurate as you are going to get on the original specs. As for my F-S, it was shipped in a nice box, and the quality and construction of the materials are very acceptable; as well as the sheath. They did a pretty good job on the specs. If you're going to buy a mass produced F-S, I'd recommend one of these. Hopefully their quality control hasn't diminished since.

very well made j knowl and sons

Very solid well made lethal knife sharp as a razor with a little steeling to clean up the edge. Sheath is serviceable . Polish work on blade like glass . One of the finest mass produced combat blades. Worth every penny.

A very good blade for certain things.

I live in an area with many bears, mountain lions, wolves etc you name it, and I hike with enthsiasm and frequently. I figure this makes me encountering one of the above simply a numbers game. Along with a loud whistle, a knife is a mandatory outdoors tool for self-defense. This knife has no other use than to stab flesh and make defensive slashes therefore it suites my, hopefully never needed scenario. The tip is extremely sharp, but mine was a little off from true and therefore I cannot give it a perfect score, also the handle feels a mite cheap.

edges weren't sharpened

An overall good knife. The knife was advertised as having a satin finished blade, but it actually came with a polished finished blade... not a big deal, because it still looked really neat and they did a good job with the finish. The weight of the hilt gives the knife excellent balance, about an inch behind the handguard, just as described in the original Fairbairn Sykes blueprints. The knife came not sharpened on either edge. No edge at all, just like a butter knife. Although I realize that a dagger/stiletto is meant primarily for stabbing and thrusting, and secondarily for cutting... it should still have some semblance of an edge, this knife did not. Really my only complaint about this knife, everything else about it is terrific.

Great design- fair execution

Design is perfect for its purpose, polish on blade is very good considering its O1 tool steel. The sheath is functional and true to the pattern. My only con is it came dull and I mean rounded edge, can’t cut, saw your arm all day without a mark DULL. The tip however is needle sharp and true. Fine wall or shadow box blade.

This blade came without any type of edge, AT ALL. The sheath appears of a much lower quality that what I have received with other Sykes-Fairbairn knives. (I have 3 others, all with black blade.) Elastic band is not tight. The sheath itself is far too loose to hold the blade as tightly as my others, and generally is floppy lower-grade leather. I wonder if this is supposed to be some kind of show blade, and not intended to function as a real knife.
