More than meets the eye

This is not a fancy knife but it is well made, good sheath and a functional size. I find it fits best when you put it in a back pocket. Looks like a wrench sticking out of your pocket. The sheath retains the knife well. I tried hanging it from my neck & jumping around, it didn't fall out. Mine too came with a liberal coating of machine oil. My edge was sharp right out of the box. The packaging isn't fancy, just a plastic clambox. I have medium to large hands and I find this knife has enough handle to get get a good grip but not be too big. The knife has a nice drop point and the blade is nice and slicey. They sell out quick. I'm glad I was able to get one. It's a knife that looks gimmicky but surprisingly is a Ka-Bar and really works. It looks like a wrench would. Finished enough to be protective but shows character. In my toolbox or fishing tackle box it just blends in. Be prepared, friends will want to "borrow" it with or without your knowledge.

My New EDC

Love this knife! Drop forged just like a wrench, with all the cool tool marks and imperfections. Each knife is one of a kind. Came fairly sharp out of the box; a minute with a sharpening rod, and it could shave. Hollow ground, drop point blade profile, very useful. I put a IWB belt loop on it (Blade Tech) so I can carry it Appendix/Crossdraw. Very handy that way. When I’m doing my chores I am constantly using my knife briefly, then putting it away. Gets really old with a folding knife. With my new Wrench knife, taking it in and out of the sheath is quick, easy and safe. Plus it looks cool. People will wonder if I made a knife out of an old crescent wrench.

It's exactly as advertised. A quality tool.

It's exactly what they say it is. It's a knife built like a wrench. Like all your other hand tools it's something you'll pass on. I don't think I can wear it out.

Good initial impression

It is what it is, a wrench knife! Great knife to throw in a tool box or even a junk drawer. Cheap enough that if it gets wrecked it's not that big of a deal! Mine came with tool oil (I'm assuming) all over it but it wiped off easy. It's a pretty neat Ka Bar knife!

Good, fun fixed blade. Not easy to sharpen

Was not very sharp out of the package, and after multiple stages of sharpening and stropping, it's passable. To be expected from tool steel, I suppose. Seems to cut ok, not great, but keeps going. Fits great in the sheath, looks fantastic. The profile of the blade is strange, though - it swoops gently to an acute point, more like a chef's knife than a drop point utility knife. Basically, get it for the fun of it, and set your expectations at "fun," not "impressive."

Good toolbox knife and sharpening practice

Pretty cool knife. I enjoy it, just wish it was a bit thicker in the handle. I still really enjoy it and it’s in my tool box and handles any cutting tasks I don’t want to use my nicer folders for.

Good Little Knife

I use this as it was intended: as a neck knife. The sheath ain't the best but it has worked for me so far. Wear it while running, it really doesn't bounce around that much and have never had it fall out. It gives me a little peace of mind.

Bought 4 on Pre-Order & Here's My Initial Impression

I purchased the KA-BAR 1119 Wrench Neck Knife for a utility knife & as a gift for friends. I intend to use mine as a utility knife to keep in my truck tool bag. I think it's a little large for an EDC neck knife, but would work. The plastic sheath has good retention with holes and a slot for multiple carry options. The forging has minor imperfections, but is typical of classic forged wrenches/tools, so I guess that's OK. I like the appearance of the knife. The blade is sharp, but the bevel is not uniform on any of the 4 that I purchased. The bevel at the tip is where they seemed to have most difficulty. If mine are representative of the lot, be prepared to spend some time improving upon the blade bevel if you want it to be correct. Maybe the initial lot were rushed and not properly finished or inspected, that's my only disappointment with the knife.

Overpriced But Looks Cool

Here we have about $10 worth of steel. The sheath works but is cheap plastic with no clip and only lanyard holes on one side, so it would never hang straight around your neck. That's OK because it's too big and heavy to be a neck knife. The grip is not very comfortable/ergonomic, so it doesn't make a good EDC. This is a very solid knife that's meant for your toolbox or workbench, when you don't want to get your EDC dirty.

Passable Pocket Fixed Blade

I purchased this knife hoping it would be an ideal front pocket EDC fixed blade. I’m pleased with the dimensions and surprised at the low weight considering how robust it feels. The handle is adequate for MED. / LRG. hands. But could also be potentially slippery. The overall design is very functional and could even pass as a decent thrower if you are of a mind to do so. However the sharpness of the blade and the flaw it came with at the tip kind of let me down. The point seems slightly deformed / blunted. I intend to use this knife as a beater anyway so I’m not overly concerned about such minor flaws. The sheath is minimalist which makes it good for pocket carry. It holds the blade well enough and has a small thumb ramp to push the knife free. I do have to agree with some of the other reviews posted here when it comes to price. All things considered, this knife should not sell for more than $35.

Cool knife, junk sheath

I do like the knife, it took a bit of sharpening to get the edge decent but it works well. The sheath is horrible. The retention is poor and it’s cheap plastic. After carrying on and off for a few months it broke out at the tip and now it’s not safe to carry as the tip is partially exposed. There’s a lot of value to a good sheath.

Overpriced

Handle needs to be about 50% thicker IMO. The edge is ground unevenly and the tip is an obvious defect that should have been rejected by qc. It probably got passed because the defect is in the forging die and they’re all like this, lol. I ended up sending it back. Very poor quality for a factory in NY. Chinese knives are finished better. Overpriced at $47, should be $25.
