This short 5 1/4" inch Tanto Fighting Knife made by KA-BAR is another cool small compact, concealable knife! These smaller 5 1/4" inch blades (about 9" inches overall length) made by KA-BAR are freaking cool as heck because of their exact same shape and design as their larger brothers made by KA-BAR (7" inch blades and about 12" inches overall length) just on a smaller scale; and they still perform just as well! These small knives are made with the same steel as their bigger brothers from KA-BAR! The model KA-BAR knives that use 1095 steel and D2 steel (D2 steel is your tool steel) are your better quality choices for blade strength and edge retention. 1095 being not as strong as D2 steel, and D2 steel being the better steel choice than 1095; but, 1095 steel is extremely better than 440c steel and other softer steels like it because of it's hardness and edge retention! So even if you are not purchasing a KA-BAR knife that is made from D2 steel and you have one of KA-BAR'S knives made with 1095 steel you still have one hell of a strong, hard, and very durable knife / blade that will hold a sharp edge for a long time! This KA-BAR Short Tanto Fighting Knife 5 1/4" Plain Blade, Kraton G Handle, Leather Sheath is such a clean work of art; also very deadly! The way this Tanto style blade is designed makes the knife have a thick, strong tip of the blade! The blade does not taper down too much and it just angles into this strong, thick, sharp, dangerous tip. The Tanto style tip of this clean knife creates the ability to reach out and cut. The black coating on the blade is beautifully smooth, clean, with a very subtle almost unoticeable smooth grain / coated texture -extremely smooth! The stealth black color comes in handy for that "you know what" type of business. The blade has a slight belly but still flows wonderfully into the thick, sharp tip; creating that overall piercing ability of the knife, with the slicing ability from the slight belly of the Tanto style blade! You will know all the right places to put it / conceal it after you purchase it! The leather sheath is very stiff and strong; also comes in that stealth black color for that type of business. The button is stiff and strong (when pushing to snap together and to rip apart to detach the button). This knife ain't "just gonna fall out!"
