Superior breaker bar

This is a superior breaker bar,flat,portable,very strong.The handle size is just perfect,ax head is great for the size,great bugout bag tool.Some people don’t like the sheath,but I don’t see the problem,push down on the edge and it slides out,sliding in you have to put in to fit the molding,very easy to pack & use,very happy with this tool!

Form over function

So I was looking for a solid & reliable all purpose tool that could handle light chopping, hammering, & prying for both around the shop & around the house. The Ontario SP8 came highly recommended, but I've never had good experiences with saw back knives. So I decided to give this beast a try. As other reviews on other sites have stated, the sheath on this thing is pretty lousy. Drawing the tool from the sheath can be done in a pretty fluid motion- putting it back in is a different story. The big straps are supposed to enable the tool to be carried vertically on a MOLLE vest- I haven't tried that yet. On a tool bag, the single button used to secured the sheath constantly fails, so I just looped some 550 cord through the eyelets instead. As far as the tool goes, it can be used to hammer, although a bit easier on the broad sides. I have used it to chop through small nails & 2x4's- the blade shows no signs of damage. However, I wouldn't recommend trying to fell a tree with this thing. Prying also works pretty well. You probably won't be able to pry open a car door with it, but it does a respectable job of prying a car door apart. Now for what really kills this tool - the grip. Somewhere along the line, Ka-bar decided this tool had to look like a skeleton key. Mission accomplished. However, that leaves the user with a 1/4" steel shank with this huge swelling @ the pommel that gets really uncomfortable & awkward to hold let alone use. "That can be fixed with 550 cord or tape" you might say. No it can't, because the combination of the long sheath & horrible pommel only leave you less than 2" of grip to work with. My solution? I cut off the spine pommel & cut 1/2 the belly pommel off with a dip in it so it resembles the Condor Golok handle- I taped that up so NOW I have a reasonable all based covered beater tool. Then there's the price. An MSRP of about $100? Who are the kidding? $50 tops would be reasonable.
