This blade has been described in other reviews as a "TANK" and they were not kidding. I was looking for a larger "heave duty" knife I could still work with. I got EXACTLY what I was looking for. This knife is large enough to baton with no fear. Its sharp enough out of the box for most any task, but I still took a Lansky to it as I do to every knife I get. All I can say is if your looking for a GREAT larger knife capable of almost every field task... STOP LOOKING AND BUY THIS KNIFE. The only bad I have is the blade finish ( but i am sure with use that will go away) and the sheath construction. The sheath simply does not match the quality of the knife but that is an easy fix.

Great Fixed Blade

I work on a farm and put all my knives through hell. I bought this one mainly because I wanted the stronger steel. This knife will replace my Gerber LMF II due to the cheaper steel on that knife. So far I absolutely love the knife but the sheath leaves something to be wanted. It is pretty wobbly and just doesn't feel right. If you want a good everyday survival knife get the BK10.

The BK 10 is not the fanciest looking fixed out there, however as far as utility goes it is outstanding. It came razor sharp right out the box. It is the perfect size for the all around camp/survival type of outings. The exposed tang is perfect for glass breaking, hammering off a doorknob, or even furnishing a non-lethal blow to an assailant. I even found it useful in the kitchen. I give it an excellent rating (5), despite the fact that the sheath leaves a lot to be desired. But that is something I can customize later, the blade is what is most important. It passes the test with flying colors. Another winner for the Becker/KA-BAR collaboration.
