This is not a camp axe, buy a cheap Gerber to split wood. This is a tool for hunting. It will split wood, but that will damage the edge. This come shaving sharp from the factory and will take an animal apart in no time at all. If you are looking for an heirloom quality hunting piece that you can hand down (I bought one for both of my kids already), try this. If you are looking for something to split wood and pound in tent pegs at the KOA, this might not be your cup of tea.
