Perfect for reprofiling

This is indeed a metal remover. When new this is an aggressive stone. It is best to break this in on a lesser steel blade on a "disposable" knife or one that has a bad chip/broke tip before using it on your good knives. Use very light strokes with this and always use water/dish soap and keep the stone wet. It takes material off quickly. You will see and feel some grit come off at first. Wash the stone well and use an old toothbrush under running water while scrubbing. After some time the stone becomes much more docile and less aggressive. This is a good stone to have if you need to re-profile a blade or work out a bad spot. It is best to break this stone in on a cheap knife. Out of the bag it is very aggressive and does shed some. Once it is broke in it's a well behaved stone when the 140 grit diamond just isn't enough. Remember, do not use oil on this. Water only.
