I've been carrying and using Kershaw knives for over 25 years now. Great knives, especially their pocket knives. Take quite a beating and always work! Had one that the "opening lever" broke after ten years, sent it in for service and Kershaw repaired it at no charge! Wasn't expecting that at all!
So it all started with a random purchase of the kershaw reverb xl while wandering Walmart. It was a sweet looking knife but it was missing the assisted opening that I love to fidget with. I remembered right next to the reverb xl was the husker which I thought looked pretty nice too. So I went back the next day to check it out. With the curved reverse tanto blade and the sleek and slim frame I knew I'd like it. Then I pressed on the flipper and Bam! It was the snappiest speedsafe kershaw I'd ever seen! After bringing it home I tinkered with it and put a drop or 2 of oil on it and a few hundred snaps open (much to the grief of my gf) and this baby slams itself.open with a loud, very satisfying click! Oh and it was pretty sharp out the box and haven't really put it through too much abuse but it seems to hold an edge pretty decent. And if it dulls a bit, a few runs over a sharpener and it's back to normal. That's my husker love story. Lol 5 out of 5
This is my second Kershaw, the first being a Hotwire (only available at Walmart), which is so good for a budget knife that it sold me on the brand! The Husker is very well designed: very sturdy all-stainless construction and feels great in the hand because of its thinness. I love Kershaw's Speedsafe feature. I just wonder how long the spring will last with me flicking it all the time! I use this knife for everyday stuff like opening boxes and general EDC use. It has become one of my favorite pocket knives. At its price point I think you'll love the Husker. Just a great knife!
I really wanted to like this knife. It was inexpensive and I loved the milling on the scales. It’s a good-looking knife but performance totally undermined its aesthetics. The detent is so stiff it hurts to open it. I sent the first one in for an exchange thinking, surely, this was simply a faulty example from a good knife maker. It performed so badly it may be a long, long time before I try another Kershaw.
