Awesome Knife

Does everything I need it to do. Edge retention is great and I love the Duralock.

So good, I bought 2!

When it comes to affordable, well built and well designed knives, Kershaw delivers with the Layup. It's sharp, takes a beating and comes back for more. I'd prefer G10 scales, but the nylon scales are fine.

Amazing EDC knife

The knife is very rigid and sturdy. The spring assist isn't the fastest, but it works. The factory edge came nice and sharp with no side-to-side blade play. It's a bigger knife than I expected, but the overall size is still great. Definitely would recommend if in the market for a good work knife or EDC knife.

Good worker

Light, durable, easy to clean, and touch-up. A nice budget work knife to use/abuse. Easy assist open. Good blade shape for slicing. No studs in the way for sharpening. For D2 steel use a touch of oil on the blade for wet environments. Would like to see this model with a textured G10 handle for more grip wearing gloves.

Very stout, no BS everyday carry

Excellent price point for this workhorse. The handle is surprisingly grippy and feels very tough. It isn't a very fidget friendly blade but the assisted deployment is very crisp. I was expecting something similar to other crossbar lock mechanisms that let you flip the blade around but this one is much more solid. Unexpected but very welcome.

Great EDC for the money

Quickly becoming one of my favorites. The D2 holds an edge very well and the knife is seeing heavy use in construction field. Deployment is smooth and scales provide enough friction for grip without hot spots. Pocket clip is solid and slides in and out of pocket with ease. Would like to see the knife in G10 with steel upgrade but for the money you can’t beat it.

A good work combo.

I've been a Kershaw fan for a long time until now all of my pocket knives 3 inch blade ,3 oz approx for my right front pocket carry but I bought this one because it was a little beefier outdoorsy by the no frills good grip solid feel of the handle stonewashed assisted flipper with a duraloc it's D2 steel comes very sharp ready to work ,very good action as well .I would have preferred a manual flipper with a frame lock . But it is a great knife so far .Good value for the money .

Does Not Disappoint

Interesting combination of spring assist opening with the crossbar lock--not necessarily better or worse, but kinda unique. I love that it has ball bearing pivot joint, and D2 is my favorite budget steel. Zero complaints--I'm just giving it 4 stars because it's just a little too much money for what it is, IMO.

Nice knife for the money

Very nice knife for the money. Though the blade sharpness was good enough I'm always sharpening all my knives by myself on my K-03 Pro. Now it's razor sharp and holds the sharpness very well since it's tool steel and bread and butter don't make any problem to it. The only concern to the knife is that the assist spring was broken. I wasn't very disappointed since the knife becomes a better fidget than before.

Not worth it

The handles feels cheap and the action is slow. Much better choices at and below the price of this knife. Needless to say I returned it.
