Real nice knife

I've been carrying this knife for about a week and love it. It's easy to carry, the pocket clip works well on thick cloth pockets - solid tip up carry. Handle material is smooth and it fits well in the hand. Blade is a good size for EDC and opens well with the thumb studs - this is not on bearings and so doesn't fly open, but it opens smoothly. The liner is not thin - which separates this from the junk knives that also come from China. The blade is nice and sharp out of the box. I really like this knife and think it's one of the best deals out there.

A gentleman's knife

I can't see why anyone would complain about this knife. First off it looks way better in person than it does in the picture it's truly a gentleman's knife and is meant for light to medium duty work the blade is perfect size the handle is lightweight everything's good about it in my opinion. And knife center is incredible I got four knives at the same time and they were all perfectly brand new not a thing wrong with any of them and they sent them to me lightning fast I'm definitely happy

Flawless

Id be surprised if it wasn't flawless. Kershaw is my first choice in folders. I carry this more now than several EDC that I have. Very light weight. Best at easy opening one handed. Remember it has no assit. Good steel that touches up easily. It's legal and priced fair with shipping that is fair too. I like it very much.

It's OK!

What do you want for $20? Had mine for several months. Nothing not to like. Sharp, easy to open, seems of decent quality. I worked with mine for a while and it's ease of opening has improved greatly. I'm used to this: Don't agree with some of the neg comments:

Good for EDC

My hand is too small to open this knife with a flick, but I can easily open it with one hand. The opening and closing is smooth. When open, the place is planted firmly with no lateral or vertical movement. The line lock works well. The steel is 8Cr13MoV which is fine with me. After all, if it is good enough for a Spyderco at 4 times the price, then it should be good to go for this one. I have carried a Spyderco Ambitious for years, and while it doesn’t stay sharp for longer, it doesn’t take longer to sharpen. I like the looks of this knife. It would do well in even a pricey steakhouse as a steak knife without anyone raising so much as an eyebrow. I like it a lot and it is now my daily carry.

More of a lightweight gentlemens folder

I like this knife because it’s light weight, doesn’t take up a lot of room and fits easily in my pocket but it’s not especially durable. It’s certainly not worth the msrp…. imho.

It's a nice knife for 20 clams. I would have given a 4 but it's not very smooth to open, plus not much room for even a normal sized thumb to sit behind the stud. A couple other reviewers don't have a problem with it, could be operator error lol, but I have about 60 knives, probably just needs breaking in, maybe a smidgen of oil. I have no regret, I like the knife

First day I got the knife I opened it and the liner locked all the way to the right and was jammed making it so the knife couldn’t close. Too bad it seemed like a descent 20$ beater otherwise.

A bit stiff.

Opening the blade is stiff. I have tried to keep working the blade open and closed a few times a day for the past couple weeks but remains stiff. The liner lock is also hard to engage to close the knife. It feels like it requires alot of pressure to engage but I think what's really happening is that there is so little of the liner to grab on to that it makes it difficult. The blade itself is great, cuts super nice. No complaints there. I love the design of it. The price is good compared to alot of other collectors knives; but just comparing it to my 8 dollar dewalt knife I picked up at home depot, it doesn't work as well as it. So price for functionality is poor. But the fact that I cringe everytime I pull it out to use it because I know the opening and closing are going to be a hassle is the reason for the 2 star review.

Worst Kershaw I've ever owned

I really like light weight knives, but this one feels light and cheap. Especially because the blade opening is very stiff. So first thing I did was oil it, which had no effect. Next was to adjust the pivot screw. The pivot screw material is so cheap I striped it. So now there's no way to loosen it. Also the liner lock is very stiff, making hard to open because the the pressure the detent ball against the blade. Its also hard to disengage. Total waste of money. Very frustrating to use. Not recommended.

I have held off writing a review about the Epistle EDC. I am a collector. I enjoy my collection for essentially for design, fabrication, materials and the action of the knife itself. My initial experience months ago was so unpleasant I stowed it away; and, only recently, unstowed it to clean and lubricate and dress with a short lanyard and bead. I know, I know, Lanyard and bead for a pocket knife of this sort. Still, I had to confess about doing so.Back to Kershaw's Epistle. Read the earlier reviewers handleexperiences. I am happy for those who extolled this folder. I find the fabrication, design and materials passable. Actually thethe design and detailing is unattractive. So why did I purchase this Kershaw? I am now at a loss for words. The blade is the best element of this EDC; and even after servicing the folder, for me, it was nearly impossible with one hand to open when pressing against the thumb stud. With some EDCs, it is usually a matter of playing around for the right angle of pressure. Once acquired, it's left to memory. I have so far failed miserably. The blade is sharp as you know what. I wish I had the talent the other reviewers possess that allow them to enjoy this Epistle. Given the meaning of Epistle, I signed up for the wrong one.
