Pros: Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Lock Ease of Use, Lock Type, Overall Quality, Weight
Cons: None
Quality trainer for a low price
For what you pay, this is an unbeatable product ~$50 for a good quality balisong is crazy. The only thing I wish they did was make a version with a live blade. Balisong trainers should be paired with a live blade version.
I bought this as a gift but I've pulled out a time or two to flip around. Honestly for the price it's a great buy flips around smooth doesn't feels loose or sloppy. It is a bit on the heavy side but personally I've always liked heavy balisongs.
Unfortunately, a less-than-average offering from Kershaw...
Kershaw had the opportunity to learn from the Lucha and create a much better budget bali than this. It's just okay. Machining/finish isn't spectacular. Latch is heavy enough to be used as a fishing sinker. Kershaw claimed they designed this to have a similar balance/feel to the Lucha... What they actually produced was a VERY handle-biased bali. It still feels off-balance even with the latch removed and the end spacer removed from both handles. It's not the worst thing I've ever flipped. It's light years better than the last Bear & Sons bali I took a chance on! This bali is marketed as a decent beginner bali. Something to help people decide if flipping balis is really for them. I believe a person starting with the Balanza would quickly become discouraged and leave the community. Unfortunately, I just cannot recommend this one. It does "the thing"... It just does it very poorly for the money. There are far better options out there around this price point these days. Kershaw really needs more experienced flippers on their bali design team if they intend to find a place in this market.
