So Pleased!

I use this knife for daily tasks such as breaking down boxes, cutting strings off of clothes and scoring various things when I don't have scissors. Admittedly I haven't pushed this knife hard, and at this price point I'm extremely happy that I bought this knife in February. I was wanting a benchmade bugout but I couldn't get behind the lack of more premium materials at their cost. I went with the Bel-Air because it has the look and feel that I was wanting and I am so pleased that Kershaw released this knife. I carry it, 85% of the time over my other knives.

The only thing that could qualify as a negative is the price.Aand ghe aluminum handles; I've never been crazy about this scale material. But I have no regrets in this purchase.

Pleasantly surprised

For the price this is an amazingly good EDC. It's sharp out of the box and has a blade that's on the thinner side for better slicing. The materials all feed really good and the knife feels like it has a good build quality. This knife is also really good to fidget with and the spring in the axis lock is very easy on the fingers.

Tied for my Top EDC Knife

Great action, very snappy, impossible to fail. IMO the Bel Air has slightly better action than my S90V Bugout with Carbon Fiber Scales, but is slightly (.9 OZ) heavier because of the Aluminum Scales. If Kershaw makes an upgraded version of this knife with Carbon Fiber scales, under 2.5 OZ, for around $200, it will be a best seller. Titanium would also be a nice upgrade. In either case, look at reducing the amount of steel in the design. The current weight of 2.9 OZ is excellent. 2 OZ is even better and worth more, but not double the $. These two knives top the EDC frequency of the collection of approx 25 knives, all under $450 each.

A home run for Kershaw!!

Absolutely an awesome knife. Probably the smoothest action I have personally seen. Zero blade play and super smooth!! This knife might be the best edc I have laid hands on and I have alot of knives. The overall geometry and blade shape are fantastic. I am a huge fan of the bugout. I have both the full size and mini. Even though I am not a huge fan of aluminum scales and even though the Bel Air weighs more, I would take it over my bugouts. I bought my son an Iridium for Christmas and was shocked how smooth that knife was. Because I wanted a magnacut folder, the Bel Air seemed like a no brainer!! Kershaw hit a huge homerun!! I bought an assert thinking it may be the bugout killer and unfortunately the one I received was terrible and I had high hopes for that knife. This Bel Air did not disappoint. The blade did come acceptably sharp, but I reprofiled it to 16 degrees and it is a razor!! Really enjoy magnacut. It sharpens easy and takes an ultra fine edge. The blade shape is one of my favorites. Overall, this might be the best edc for I own. We all have different tastes, but for me, this is a darn near perfect knife. I don't think anyone could be disappointed in this knife. The only other Kershaw I have is an s30v Blur. Kershaw has never been high on my list. The Iridium I bought my son is probably the only reason I ordered the Bel Air. I hope Kershaw continues this trend!!

Bugout Killer

Among others, I own a Benchmade Bugout and the Kershaw Bel Air. I obtained both recently so they haven't seen a lot of hard use. Both are great knives, however, the Bel Air is a step above the Bugout. The Magnacut steel blade is great. It takes and holds a sharp edge. The action of the Bel Air is very smooth and superior to the Bugout. The pocket clip on the Bel Air also carries a little deeper than the Bugout. Another downside to the Bugout is that the omega springs both failed after about five months and I had to send it back to the factory for warranty replacement. The Bugout I have is the one with Aluminum scales and the starburst rays. Aesthetically it beats the Bel Air slightly, but that is the only area where it does. Perhaps a company like Flytanium will come out with some aftermarket scales for the Bel Air. I have four knives that I carry routinely, but the Bel Air is the one I carry most often. If you're choosing between the Bugout and the Bel Air, pick the Bel Air.

Best new EDC in a while

The Bel Air has to be one of the best things from Kershaw in a while. MagnaCut for the blade steel at a good HRC unlike some other brands, solid crossbar lock up again unlike some other brands, nice thin slicey blade stock yet again unlike other brands, flush fitting pocket clip screws instead of the biggest mushroom cap head screws mean no snagging material, it's difficult to find a real negative in the overall design. The tiniest complaint, and this is arguable at worst, the liners could be milled out to save a bit of weight. But that's such a minimal thing. I guess the same could be said about the deep carry clip going a bit beyond the end of the grip. I'm always and forever on team deep carry instead of team pocket chunk so I guess if you're a pocket chunker you won't like the clip. You're wrong but it's your right to be wrong. Bottom line, if like makes me lose this one I'm instantly buying it again.

Been wanting a knife with Magnacut steel for a while and couldn’t wait for this one to release. Action is buttery smooth and centering is perfec. White aluminum scales are awesome and the blade comes super sharp. Shipping was really fast and arrived two days before I expected it.

Superb quality!

As a longtime Benchmade fanboy, I rarely look outside the brand for knives. I like what I like and Benchmade always delivers for me -despite the butterfly tax. I kept coming across this knife and it intrigued me. I’ve owned one prior Kershaw and hated it, so I’d look at the Bel Air time and time again, but decide against pulling the trigger. The other day I finally pulled the trigger and couldn’t be happier. This could easily be a Benchmade knife (in quality, feel, action and aesthetic) although surely upwards of $300. It’s a perfectly sized edc for me, looks and functions great. Disappears in your pocket thanks to a perfectly designed pocket clip. I’d say the action feels better than a handful of my prized Benchmades. While I haven’t had much time to put it through its paces, I am very pleased with my purchase. I hope that it holds up as well as the other knives I use, something tells me it will. Also, Knife Center continues to be a very reliable online store. I typically use BladeHQ, despite a few issues I’ve had (one in particular that had me rethinking my choice in knife suppliers altogether), but I’m quickly becoming a loyal KC supporter. American Made Magnacut EDC ...WOW!

Never thought I would find an EDC that could compete with my Buck Sprint Pro collection... this Belair is giving my Sprints and other Kershaws a run for their money!! I'm never without my EDC around the farm and used my new Belair to breakdown a pile of cardboard boxes for the incinerator and this new Magnacut blade was sharp as a razor right out of the box!! Extremely easy to deploy and secure... I think I'm going to like this Belair a lot!! This is the first DurLock type knife I have tried... I like it!

Home Run

This knife is fantastic, Kershaw hit an absolute home run. Blade material is exceptional. The Cerakote handles feel great. Pivot and action are super smooth. Handles and thumb studs are comfortable. Overall a truly great value at the price. I hope we see some aftermarket scales and hardware soon.

Great New Knife from Kersaw

I've had Kershaw Random Leek for several years and have loved it. When I saw the Bel Air on your review show, I thought that this needed to be my next Kershaw. And I haven't been disappointed. It is pointy and slicy like my Random Leek with the additional benefits of a wider handle, the DuraLock cross-bar, and of course MagnaCut steel. the knife works flawlessly.

What the Bugout was meant to be

Blade of the best steel now available for the purpose, slim design, nice execution. The aluminum handles are really very functional and the ergonomics are near perfect. I opened a lot of letters with, then went out and cut various limbs and vines during landscaping. It remains razor sharp and has impressed me no end with its functionality. Opens and closes very precisely and you can control how fast it closes with precision. It's my new EDC.

Wonderful pocket knife. Reminds me of more expensive ZT knives. Light weight, easy into and out of the pocket, smooth deployment, sharp edge with excellent metal, and the scales are way more beautiful than can be captured on camera or video. Kershaw USA made a great knife.

This is the epitome of an EDC

There is little this knife leaves to be desired. Great steel, comfortable handle, easy opening/closing, super duper fidgetability. It is so smooth, I can “spidey” flick it with every finger individually other than my pinky. The edge from the shop aint that great, but tune it up yourself and good to go. Probably the only thing that I dont like is the pocket clip. In an effort to make it uber deep carry (some people like this), it extends past the length of the handle, which looks awkward and makes a hot spot on my pinky finger. Otherwise, this is essentially my favorite knife in my rotation. Nice work Kershaw

Favorite carry

Really hits all the marks. Easy to carry in the pocket, very sharp, great steel action is really sweet. The size is just right- small enough to carry without noticing but the blade is big enough to do all normal chores. It's USA made and really just perfection! I compare it to the Civivi Vision which I also like, but it's bigger and heavier and doesn't have Magnacut. The Hogue Mysto - similar but thumb stud is course and the whole knife is bulkier and costs a lot more- American Bladeworks Model 1 - also nice but heavier and a liner lock instead of crossbar. Benchmade 940 - these are close, but the Benchmade costs so much more and doesn't have Magnacut. This knife is worth having. BTW I love love love Magnacut. Overhyped? I don't think so. I have it in kitchen cutlery and pocket knives and both get shaving sharp and I strop to maintain the dges.

Favorite knife

Perfect size for pocket or deep carry, sharp and fluid smooth. Have both the carbon fiber and the aluminum, the metal handles seem thinner. Love the blade shape. Can be resharpened with just a few passes on the strop. No better value out there.

I agree with everything Evan said in his review. My preference for the handle would be sculpted Micarta scales. Otherwise, after purchases and repeated evaluations of more than 50 similar EDC knives from most leading manufacturers, this one is the best (so far). I'm the facility manager of a small rural estate and use my knife in many different ways, indoors and outdoors. My knife must be easy to carry and easy to deploy. And it must bring pleasure and satisfaction every time I see it and every time I use it. Great job, Kershaw!

Nearly perfect

Nearly everything about this knife is premium. The blade is slicey and sharp af - my stitches can confirm that. Great blade shape and I’m guessing various blade variations will be offered in the future. My only gripes, and this is nitpicking, is the clip and the handle. The clip is fine, but could be improved. The fact that it’s deep carry and reversible is nice though. The handle is grippy and has a great feel in the hand, though I’m not sure aluminum is the preferred material for most folks. Love the champagne color. Hopefully Kershaw introduces some new scales and colors in the future.

Just about perfect

Just received this knife today and was immediately impressed. The size, shape, weight, material, sharpness, and action are all fantastic. The Duralock moves exceptionally smooth, the blade opens and closes like a dream. Overall I'd give it a 99/100, only knocking a point off because I think the aluminum handle is a bit uncomfortable in winter, and I'd prefer more of a stonewashed blade. But these are mostly aesthetic. Everything else about the knife is perfect. Plus, made in USA.

Done probably 4 days of research and comparisons to the bugout almost got the alpine glow mini on sale but read to many worrying reviews, heard nothing but great reviews on this guy and... Wow. I'm impressed. I've had spyderco, microtech and this knife I would choose all day long. I hope they produce scales etc for customizing the knife because it's a HIT!

The Kershaw Bel Air is a fun, solid EDC. Feels comfortable in hand, flips open smooth, and stays sharp. Not too heavy, yet tough enough for daily tasks. Great value for what you get. Has become one of my go-to pocket knives.

I love this knife. It's wonderful in almost every way EXCEPT for a slight rattle in the stop pin when the blade is closed. I'm sure it's nothing, but it does make me wonder about lock security.

Nice knife

Very cool little pocket knife. Materials all seem to be a high-quality. It came to me super sharp. Action on the crossbar lock is super slick. Actually a bit too slick in the beginning.The blade was a little loose with some side to side wobble when I received it. I’m assuming it’s probably just my example. In any case an easy fix with a small adjustment to the pivot screw. If not for that little all oversight by quality control I would’ve given the knife five stars. All in all like I said in the title nice little knife.
