My favorite things about this knife are the handle, the balance and the blade. The handle accommodates all four fingers with a choil for the first finger and the design fills the hollow in the palm of the hand providing a very secure grip while being of slim profile. The balance point is right behind the release switch so the handle tends to stay in the hand while still offering lively response to manipulation. The blade responds to a magnet so I assume the steel it is not of the stainless variety. The grain is looks good but also very different (and more affordable) than damascus from fifty years ago...or longer (I am not a metallurgist and I am just pleased as punch to have any kind of sharp or rifled steel). The blade exceeds my minimum length requirement and the spring release is very fast but it does not have excessive recoil. I cut some heavy cord and it went through it like a razor blade. Any knife I carry is primarily for potential self defense but in reality fulfills typical knife duty. I chose the Kershaw Launch 7 because of it's specifications and the unique design. I recommend this knife.

Like the Damascus blade better

This is the second Launch7 I've gotten. Lost first one mowing the back 40. It had the normal CPM154 steel blade. Loved it. Replaced it with the Damascus blade version. Like it better. Seems to sharpen easier and retains edge well.
