Best paring knife yet
The knife came securely packaged in a pretty nice looking black pressed paper box with the Shun logo in gold on the front. Overall this knife is one of the best finish pieces of cutlery I've seen. Handle is well finished, and is a near perfect fit to the front bolster, and rear cap, zero rough spots. The blade looks amazing, but cuts even better. I've had pocket knives from just about every major brand out there, and nothing comes close to the out of the box sharpness this knife has. Its ground evenly, with a symmetrical edge which is uncommon in many production knives. So far after a good bit of use I gently touched it to the fine stones of my sharp-maker and its good to go again. Also seems to be fairly stout for such a thin grind, but at the high hardness I'm a bit worried about chipping if someone does something silly with it like cut through a bone. Its a great knife that handles very well, only negative would be that now my mother wants the whole set... :-)
