NOW THAT'S A KNIFE

This knife carry's like a regular pocket knife but is made to last and perform as a knife should. The steel is 154CM and it locks up great. I had to wait awhile as it was a new knife but it was worth the wait and should be a great performer for many years. If you like big knives this is for you, but if you like little knives it will not suit you. I live by the saying; you can do anything a small knife can do with a big knife but it doesn't work that way with small knives, you will be limited to say the least. The CF handles are nice and the steel is excellent for under a 100 bucks its a great deal.

An amazing and versatile knife

A friend turned me on to the Kizer Sheepdog XL. When I first saw it I thought it looked ridiculous but it’s truly an awesome and capable knife. The edge is super sharp and with the wide blade it is very stiff. Can do a lot with this knife that smaller blades might not be suited for. I also love the carbon fiber handle. With low manufacturers offered this option.

Heavy hitter

I bought one because of the hype and reviews. It came more than hair poppin sharp. The fit of the parts are very nice. Centering of the blade is 100% perfect. I’m a bit of a blade snob but this is a steal even at a hundred bucks. This is heavy. Over half a pound. The thought of that must have played a part in the final clip design. It sits well into the pocket but the short clip hangs this anchor mid thigh. Lower and it would slap your leg each step. 😳 Chinese factories have been ramped up to American standards of quality. Even a snob like me has to admit Kizer Knife Co. is well above most brands details.

Still excellent after several years of hard use

I needed a knife that was large, comfortable to carry and tough enough for farm work. The Sheepdog definitely fit that bill in all areas. I purchased the Sheepdog XL several years ago and use it daily on the farm. It is thick and heavy enough to cut through bail twine covered in ice on large round bales, yet controllable and sharp enough afterwards to trim fuel lines with precise and clean edges. I love this knife and would purchase it again. For the price, the 154CM steel blade, carbon fiber scales, and the quality of the build makes this knife a great value. I would like to see it with a Magna cut or M4 blade so I could save some sharpening time.

Don’t think just buy it!

Awesome knife, great for EDC tasks and even in the kitchen. Razor sharp out of the box with tight pivot so give her some lube and a few cautious flicks for break in(giggity). Had to apply a few band aids the first 48 hours. But it is just so cool, I also learned this thing is intimidating to non knife people so if you have man sized hands and plan to EDC be wary of your surroundings. I wanted to try one out before getting a titanium mini which is definitely happening soon. Pocket clip leaves a bit to be desired her only flaw. Loving the Vanguard XL

CF Sheepdog

154CM is not M390(my fav) and the blade is priced accordingly if not lower. The blade design limits it as an EDC but I'll carry it once or twice a month for giggles. Absolutely razor sharp out of the box, 154 is reasonably easy to apply an edge to. At the very least I consider it one of the finest $100 box cutters out there. The handle is extremely comfortable in almost all grips. Surfaces are rounded and polished well. The blade is large and I agree about the needed placement of the existing clip. The liner lock is only adequate in my opinion especially since I have come to favor frame or axis lock(the like) release (I would still appreciate more purchase for my releasing digit). A resounding "THWACK" upon vigorous opening brings a small grin. For the money, a nice bargain for the quality . One I would consider buying a second of.
