Excellent hunting knife

Beautiful knife that has become my favorite hunting knife. The balance and weight are excellent. Originally, I would not want such a large knife for my hunting purposes (mostly whitetail), but as soon as I picked it up I loved it. Holds an edge extremely well, and the beefy handle makes cutting up through the rib cage very easy. Also, the rubber stippled handle is very grippy, and made all field dressing very easy. Also, the leather sheath that came with mine is one of the best sheaths I've had, top quality and great blade retention, without grabbing too hard. This knife is a Japanese very hard stainless steel, so if you want to use your knife as a hammer, or an axe, then get another knife made out of carbon steel. Stainless is great for retaining sharpness and ease of care. This is not the best choice for the "only one tool" survival knife, but if you want an excellent quality 'hunting' knife that will last for years this is the one. Obviously the last reviewer knew this was stainless steel, used it in a manner he knew was not designed for, and for some reason was surprised when it failed by abusing it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Katz, and my hunting buddy was so impressed with mine, he bought his own last fall.

The real katz

Absolute garbage. The pommle bent out of position just trying to Crack open a deer bone - and I mean really bent. And a week in the blade spilt from the handle from just striking a 2/4 stuck in the ground the tens was -14c, but if you depend on your blaDE, and for 300$ you should, this is not buy. Stainless steel was made for the kitchen, should stay in the kitchen, and made to look pretty. The worst part is that katz didn't even report to my email. Garbage.
