F1 Killer

I was looking for a replacement for my older Fallkniven F1's. The LionSteel M4 is an F1 killer. For the same size and price, you get better steel, choice of handle material (all better), a better sheath and really great ergos. I love the feel of these Italian knives. Like a good pair of gloves, they just fit your hand. I live in Florida so corrosion resistance is a top priority. M390 is the best. For a "bet your life on" companion knife. This M4 is hard to beat. And the Customer Service at Knife Center is fantastic! I sent them an email on a Sunday morning, in the middle of a pandemic, asking to change my order that had not yet shipped. I had a reply in an hour, order changed, knife shipped Monday morning. Customer for life!

The LionSteel M4 is Simply a Stunningly High Quality Knife

I purchased the LionSteel M4 in M390 steel with Santos wood handles from the KnifeCenter this February (2022). I received the knife in excellent condition within a few business days and I reside in Ontario, Canada! Now that is efficient and prompt! The KnifeCenter pricing is very competitive, even when compared to Canadian knife distributers. I am also extremely pleased with the high quality of the LionSteel M4. It is simply one stunning knife. Crazy sharp right out of the box with stunning beautiful Santos wood handle scales and a perfect blade fit and finish. The product video descriptions by David C. Andersen were very useful in answering all of my questions on this knife. The ergo dynamics of the handle scales are amazing with the contoured palm swell and a delicately machined surface texture. This knife has an exposed pommel tang that has a sharp, 90 degree edge for sparking a fire steel. I have tested it on a 1/2" x 6" ferrocerium rod and it produced an abundance of large sparks with ease! Oh ... and one more thing .. the leather sheath is just as high quality as the knife and fits perfectly on a 1.5" wide leather belt. The KnifeCenter will definitely get all of my future business. I am one very pleased customer!

Beautiful Knife

This is one knife that looks better in my hand than it does in the pictures. The balance is excellent and feels good in my hand. The wood handle suites me and the leather sheath is quality. The M390 blade came shaving-sharp and the edge-holding ability of this type of steel is well documented. I am sorry to say that I have yet to use it on any game because my deer for this year was already in the freezer before the knife's arrival. I have used it for a few camp and cooking chores and it has performed very well, retaining its edge. I am very pleased with this purchase and can assure you that this hunting blade will ride on my hip or in my pack on my next deer hunt. I can highly recommend this knife.

So good (with 1 caveat)

The knife itself is a 5 with one caveat: it's not really full tang the tang is hollow for some reason. I don't plan on using this knife for non knife things so I don't care but if you plan on doing a ton of abusive stuff with it might want to keep that in mind. For my purposes it's almost the perfect knife. My only real complaint? The sheath. Had to get an armatus sheath almost immediately. Too much care needed when sheathing the knife so you don't cut off the retention strap. The leather is wonderful but honestly they should include the kydex and sell the leather as an accessory. I know it's one of their trademarks but they are also extremely bulky. I rarely need to sharpen it, just strop it. I use it for crafts especially skiving leather. m390 is excellent for blades under 4" and this thing is super sharp for a factory edge.

1st $150 but sheath is falling apart

I've been hearing DCA rave about LionSteel knives and I finally caved and bought my first knife over $100, and it was this particular LionSteel knife. While I love the look, weight, style, and sharpness of this knife, the stitching on the back of the leather sheath is already unravelling/coming apart. I am returning this knife and might buy another one. I called a shoe repair shop about fixing the stitching on my brand new sheath, and they want to charge me over $20 to restitch the leather sheath.
