Lansky curved blade, 4 pack........ and others

No surprises here, great tor hawk bill type knives, but where they really shine (no pun intended) is touching up woodworking gouges. Now if they only made a strop to match, then I wouldn't have too. Bought the 4pack of stones, a case and some spare strops (that were modded via belt sander to match). The Lansky stuff is in use at least 3x week in my shop, I keep extras, so as to not be caught without. The wife complains that I get her kitchen knives too sharp...... guess I'll have to work on that.

Bought this set to sharpen my curved blades and my knives with a recurve blade. On the recurves, I only use it on the inward curved portion of the blade, and use a regular hone on the rest. It's a little extra work, but seems to work well. I found that if you roll the curved hone slightly as you sharpen, you can use the whole curve to sharpen instead of just the top of the curve. Might help keep the curve curved. If you just use the top, after time the curve may start getting flattened out. Just don't roll it too much or you can hit the plastic handle on the blade. Glad I bought this set as it makes sharpening curved blades so much easier. Thanks Lansky for another great product and thanks to Knife Center for their great service. Oh yeah, I also replaced all the thumb screws on the hones with 10-24x1/4 set screws as I have done on all my Lansky hones. Sure, you need a 5/32 allen wrench to tighten them, but you get more stroke out of the hone and it makes it easier to use. If you use Lansky hones you should try it, I think you'll be pleased with the results.
