Great Strop

This strop works great. It added that last bit of polish that was needed for my knives. Don't go the wrong way with it though, I accidentally nicked the strop, which was not good, but the strop still works perfect.

I made a home made stropping pad but this one is so much better. It holds the perfect angle with the Lansky system. My knifes are paper slicing sharp !

Great Lansky Addition

This superb addition to my Lansky diamond and sapphire hones quickly removes wire edges from very sharp blades. It's great. I find no faults with it. It's as close as you'll get to the edge you'll get with a fabric buffing wheel dressed with jeweler's rouge.

Good hone if you want to add that extra touch.

It is a good product but I would advise to get the ceramic hone first to get a cleaner polished edge.

Good idea but what about practice ?

Happy to see my preferate sharpening system offering now leather for finishing step, i don't yet own this item. So excuse my question (and my awfull english written) : i use leather in the other way than stones (large belts burned with years of practice, sometime with very thin diamond pastes). A french expression says you 'enter the stone but escape from the leather' , better results achieved with only the weight of the blade on leather, may be difficult to reproduce with this guided pad. ? . Tribute to the overall quality of this brand, the close control the system offer, worth a try !

Stropping hone to finish the job

I finish all my knife sharpening jobs done with my Lansky kit with this strop. I did add chromium oxide to the strop's surface to make it more effective. It did work without the green rouge but polishes faster with it. My strop came out of the package with the leather slightly deformed like it had been crushed for a long time. The package didn't show any signs of damage. I don't think it was made that way. The deformed/mashed end of the strop's leather is on the tip and isn't a real problem. All in all I'm pleased with my purchase and the finish I get is guaranteed to be at the proper angle, which is the whole reason to use a guided system like the Lansky. I feel the pricing is a bit high for a leather strop when I actually paid less for the sapphire stone. I'd like to see Lansky offer naked holders so that a customer could build his own stone or strop holder....I have some kangaroo that I might put over the leather of the strop when I need to repair or replace the factory leather.

use paste!

When I first used it, I really didnt see or feel any difference. It is only when I applied some dmt 1micron paste that it really made a world of difference! advised if you cant be bothered creating your own strop, or you want to use the guide rods. One downside is that when using paste, it does degrade relatively quickly
