Needed A Replacement
I unfortunately needed a replacement, the 'holder' (purple plastic part) for my original coarse diamond stone broke where the rod attaches after only 20 years of use. It was probably my fault, I have long been in the habit of setting the rod straight with the surface of the stone by lining them up on a flat surface and then 'tweaking' the rod, using the stone for leverage if needed. The correct way would be to use pliers or a vice but I am lazy. I have had to reglue pretty much all of my Lansky stones to the holders over the years, I probably could have tried to contact Lansky and just buy a new plastic holder as the diamonds on the 'stone' don't really wear out. I did not bother, this is THE stone that I do most 'blade shaping' with and it has survived many, many hours of use. It will be interesting to see if I can note any difference between the original and the new replacement.
