Doing the sharpening holding the clamp freehanded is not that comfortable, at least for me this is a must have.

Mount without a use
The quality of this mount is not the issue. It is well made for the job. It's just that I got my kit several weeks before this mount and sharpening by holding the Lansky guide in my hands works so well, the mount is virtually worthless. Good idea that really doesn't work well. I suppose you could use this mount to hold the guide w/knife during stone changes but again, not worth the expense for the limited amount of use and loss of counter space. Pass this and the other mounts up and just hold the sharpener in your hands. Takes some practice but works best overall.
