I have used a few different honing oils in the passed. 2 of them being an old bottle of Kwik sharp, and an older bottle of Smith's. Both of those oils had an enormous smell! Like smelling straight kerosene/fuel oil. In fact those oils were so smelly, they gave me a head ache. They both had warning labels saying "if ingested call doctor immediately" They worked just fine but I could not take the smell, I was suggested the Lansky Nathan's Natural oil and WOW. Its a big bottle, and it has almost no smell at all, unless you put your nose right up to it! Even then it is pretty faint. My father says it smells like natural PA crude oil. The box and bottle do not come with scary warning labels, and I believe it is "kitchen safe" This is some great oil! Try it if you can't stand the smell of your current honing oil
