RELIABILITY

Lansky products have been in my 'sharp' box for years. Just plain reliable..... -could use more angles guides-.

Love my Lanskey!

I purchased this clamp to replace my worn out and broken older clamp. I own and use many knives, and I am a firm believer in the old saying, "a craftsman is only as good as his tools." My knives must be ready, and razor sharp at a moment's notice because I carry at least 2 of them on every mission. (U.S. Army, SFC, deployed overseas at the moment). I have owned, and used the heck out of, my lansky sharpener for many years as it gives a razor sharp edge, every time. I highly recommend Lansky multi-angle sharpeners! One reminder however, keep the clamp clean, and don't over tighten, as it tends to bend & break your clamp.

Not like the picture - but better...

Bought this to replace the one that I'd dropped and damaged. The one I received was a skeletonized casting with much more regidity than the original. I like it alot!

Not what is shipped

This is the original knife clamp for the Lansky systems, not the updated one with the rubber coated jaw like in the picture. Works just like it always has, just not what was advertised.

Better design

The clamp is better thought out than the previous clamps, but there's no guide indention for the tightening knob so the clamp will not stay square with itself, so I hah to drill my own guide indent now it works as it should. But still a good clamp. You can still get that razor sharp edge that your used to with lansky. I take off a point of 2 because of the missing guide indent.

A disappointment

I purchased the Lansky clamp as an addition to the Gatco sharpening system, since I had heard that this clamp was better used for small pocket knives. I have not found this to be the case, in fact the Gatco clamp was much easier in use for the smaller knives. A tip useful for both: to protect your nicer knives from scratching and at the same time preventing the small knives to slip from the clamp you can use a small piece of thin suede. Works very well!
