A Japanese work of art!

I purchased this knife to serve as a visually appealing, “sophisticated” EDC knife, with solid qualities and materials, and with a clear Japanese flair. Well, it meets those criteria and much more. The blade comes very well sharpened, as is typical with most Japanese made knives. I mostly use mainstream Japanese brands for my kitchen knives, and it matches Shun and Global quality in general. The looks of this knife is definitely its most standout feature. The combination of polished steel, hammering, and layered VG10, really makes it look hand-made. The craftsmanship is outstanding, with no major QC issues that I can find. The few flaws seem to be well know, based on other reviews I read prior to purchase. The clip seems out of place, being cheap looking, though it works okay. I may remove it since it is tip-down, and I mostly plan on using this with a sheath/EDC organizer. The pivot is also tight, and not very smooth initially, though it seems to already be improving after a couple of days, as I am now able flick it completely open at times. Overall, I am very pleased with this knife, and I think it is a very good value for what you get. It is well made, and feels solid and durable. That being said, I don’t think it was designed for heavy use. The handle ergonomics are good, but are nothing like many other excellent knives designed for heavy and prolonged use. For me, this is what I expected. I think it is too beautiful to beat up anyways.
