Beautiful blade but fit and finish issues
I've had this knife for two days and I've spent those two days fidgeting with this knife (as I tend to do) and observing every detail on this knife. As my title states, this blade is gorgeous, the Damascus pattern is everything I wanted as my first pattern welded knife in my collection however there are some glaring issues I've found with it. The first thing I noticed was how stiff the locking mechanism is. Decompressing the liner lock grew uncomfortable for the thumb and it produced a sharp snapping sound when it disengaged, not a big concern as some oil quickly fixed that concern but for a knife of this price, that should not have been the case in my opinion. The second problem I found with this knife is that the edge bevel on the tip of the knife was ground incorrectly. The tip of the blade is not in line with the spine of the blade, the left side of the edge bevel was ground too much on the left side so the point of the blade goes off to the right. If this was a 20 dollar knife, I would not have mentioned it as I could easily fix it with some sharpening but when a knife costs nearly 200 dollars, there should have been some better quality control before it left the factory. Lastly the biggest concern I have with this knife is that the blade leans to the right side when the blade is in the handle. Again, I would consider this a nitpick but when I use my left hand to engage the knife with the left hand side thumb screw, it audibly scrapes the blade against the metal liner as the blade swings out. I wouldn't care if this knife was priced way lower but worst yet this is a Damascus cladded blade, who wants their new beautifully patterned knife to be scraping against itself right out of the box? Even with all those issues I don't regret my purchase, the handle has great ergonomics and the knife is once again very pretty, I just expect higher standards when paying almost 200 dollars for the knife.
