This knife is a great piece for under $60.00 the sharpness is scary out of the box, but it stays that sharp for an eternity. The M-vX tool steel that is used on this knife can't be found anywhere else, but it's great stuff. I love this knife.
Basically, I got the knife for "self defense" (AKA cuz it's pretty). That having been said, it's actually been fairly useful as a pocket knife. It didn't come real sharp out of the box but sharp enough to cut everything I've used it on (plastic, string, whatever) without effort so far. I think the recurved blade helps for that. It seems very well-built, solid locking. Has a great feel in the hand. I have relatively small hands so it's a touch big but should be fine for almost everyone except smallest and biggest hands. Cons, I guess would be that it wasn't very sharp at all out of the box. It's a little bulky but not terribly so. Also the handle might be a tad rough but it hasn't bothered me.
The blade is much smaller than I imagined it would have been, and at first seemed like a bad thing. But as I played with it, I quickly realized how effective this little guy was. It is essentially giving your fist a talon claw for ripping and tearing, but much much sharper. For close quarters combat, this fits snuggly in my grip, doesn't interfere with the movement of the rest of my body (I can move about quickly and easily without worrying about the blade's maximum radious), and the little loop for your pinky finger is excellent for quick jabs. This is a very destructive little friend to have. The blade operation is very firm. It is one handed in its operation, but it's certainly not a snap open knife. It's lightweight and easily concealable, with a beautifully nonreflective flat black finish. I recommend it for any collector and anyone in the armed forces who needs to get toe to toe with any threat hand to hand. Excellent for women in shoddy neighborhoods too. The Lock, though effective and easily loockable, is not my favorite type of lock and difficult to unlock, and is probably the only negative point I can find about this knife. 5 of 5 here!
Dude this this is awesome I have a lot of other knives and I carry this one ...only down fall is that the blade is only sharp on one side..and the pocket clip is a little short..
fits quite good in my small hand and smooth to open and close. well balenced and strong enough for self defense. tip is perfect for opening boxes. like it~
I bought this karambit to add to my collection of folding knives. I really like the look if this knife. It came fairly sharp out if the box. Of course I did sharpen it . Sharpening this knife was slightly difficult but it did end up with a nice mirror edge that looks great against the black blade. I really like the small size of this karambit.I was fairly surprised that the finger hole fit my hand. I have heard that some people feel the handle is rough on the edges I personally don't find it to be a problem. The knife rides well in the pocket and seems secure despite how small the clip is. The knife was slightly stiff at first but it did smooth out quite nicely with some use. All and all i am happy with it. Fit and finish is decent I did notice one slight imperfection in one of the cutaways in the handle. It looks like when it was milled a small aeria was missed. Not really a big deal though.
In the very first day this knife has developed enough back and forth blade play that it actually makes a rattling sound when i shake it. And thats without even any use, i've just opened it a bunch of times today trying to get a feel for my first karambit and its already got blade play, not that it really matters since theres no warranty on this knife. other than that none of the corners on the handle are rounded, they're very angular and sharp. the knife is very uncomfortable in a saber grip and still not very comfortable in reverse grip. also the inside of the ring is not smooth and will actually start to wear away your skin. I love the design of this knife but mantis did a crappy job with it. save your money buy a Fox, or a 5.11, or an Emerson.
I was lookin for a smaller size karambit to carry around. Well this is definitely not it. It takes quite an effort to open. The blade isn't sharp and the overall quality is mediocre at best imo. The ring is a bit small for a comfortable grip in my hand and I have average size hands/fingers. Basically my son's cheap $17 karambit was a way better buy. I'm sending this knife back. Very disappointed.
