I recently purchased one of these Tac-P's after browsing through Microtech products and being intrigued by the design of this. I purchased one and when it arrived, it was even better in person compared to the pictures. The finish on this tool are some of the best I have ever seen, the apocalyptic finish looks great on this particular tool, and I saw no inconsistencies with the finish. However with the glass breaker, when I unboxed the Tac-p, it seemed to be sticky and it was sealed shut. However, I used a metal rod for leverage and I easily was able to screw it open. The frag machining on the sides of the Tac-p is extremely grippy, I used bare hands to puncture boxes and such, and I had 0 issues of slipping. The weight on the Tac-p and its included sheath are both great and perfect for carrying around, speaking of the sheath, it's no short of beautiful, it has a carbon fiber look, and it alone can impress anyone you are showing it to. However, now we must come to the downsides of it, which there are 2. The first one, it's very inconvenient to carry on the belt, however, this was covered in other reviews so I won't go into depth on it, and the second one is its EDC applications. Its most likely seen as a dagger in most cities, so you are out of carrying it, even if you could carry it, its only use is self-defense, its horrible for everything else, and seeing that it's already inconvenient to carry in the first place, it may not be worth the hassle. In conclusion, superior Microtech quality, but limited usefulness.

Incredible, handy, tuff, little tool that you can use for all sorts of daily “jobs”. Extremely well made. I find that it fits and clips perfectly in my back pocket or inside my belt line. Very little weight to it but feels extremely solid in hand. When you first see it you think of very little you can use it for other than self defense, but after having it on you for a few days or more that’s when you start realizing all of the possibilities. I’m looking forward to carrying it every day, along with a blade, and finding even more uses. Very cool little tool from Microtech and again, extremely great service from KC! Thanks again.

I received the TAC-P with hopes of for a combination emergency extraction tool and to fill a long time want for some kind of modern replacement of the WWII OSS Nail. Check off those boxes.

Great self defense tool know from experience

Love the thing. Glass breaker looks nice handle is perfect sized for xl hands. And I was playing with it and dropped it right on my leg cut it open and had to get three stitches and now I have a nice little half moon scar. Use this for everything from cutting open boxes to shotgunnin beer.

Puts the FUN in Limited FUNctionality!

Item is everything you would expect from the Microtech name. It is impeccably made, light, and very unique. I’ve been lucky enough to own it for about a month now. During that time, I have struggled to really find a use for it and I have carried it sporadically for too small a clip on the sheath. Reason being, I’m not sure what exactly to use it for. There is no arguing, the tip is incredibly sharp out of the box. There is no edge for this but, the tip could certainly open packages or boxes. The glass breaker tip is threaded but, there are holes drilled through the body of the tube. It wouldn’t make a very good straw or tap from the design feature. I guess it’s nice to have a glass breaker just in case. Despite the sheath being proportional large, it is very slim and easy to tuck into a waistband. It would be a phenomenal addition to a folding knife or folding tool as a strictly self defense tool. I have no doubt that this would get someone off of you in a bad situation. It also is arguably the cheapest way to get your hands on something from this manufacturer which has appeal. The ulticlip is nice to have out of the box but, given the sheath design an XL clip variant or different clip design would have been better than the small size. You can adjust the ride height but, the handle is so long that it still is awkward. So much so, I do feel that it does impact my ability to carry it. The clip would be something I would upgrade. If you really want a unique self defense tool with VERY limited practicality, look no further. If you are looking for a one tool to do everything, this is not going to be it. Shire they have folding knives with glass breakers and a push knife I feel would be a better option from a utility standpoint. Still, I am a huge Microtech fan and am very happy with it and don’t care that it does less. This item is definitely in a place of its own. Also, it does fall in the want versus need category but, given how few will be released but, I do believe it’s worth the money despite the realized limitations.

Microtech Quality - Limited Usefulness

This is a wicked last-ditch defensive tool. That being said, it is very difficult to carry. There is just something about the proportions that make it uncomfortable & noticible when you have it on your person. I have tried ITWB, OTWB, appendix, vertical, horizontal, etc. This thing is just hard to wear. This would be best carried on a MOLLE chest rig/bag. That being said, I do love it and actually bought 2. It gets tossed in my EDC bag and is there if I ever need it. For the price, you can't go wrong.

design could be improved. handle is too long.

Design is somewhat interesting. I was expecting a sharper tip. The handle is too long. It is going to stick out of the pocket. Designed for waistline? Not sure...Fits into MOLLE gear (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment). It resembles a medical trocar with sets of holes towards the very end of the round hollow blade portion on the border with handle. My first though that was for draining blood, but the holes are just too small for that. It seems like a pneumothorax making tool if not removed and stays in place. Survival tool? Maybe. Then attach it to a spear. Not my choice for sure.

Worst microtech ever

This thing is nothing for fast deployment, the holster is ridiculously tight , even if you loosen the screws on the clip you cannot get this thing out fast at all so for an emergency last ditch effort I would go with something else first microtech product I got to say is worthless
