Norton India 8x2x1

On December 3 2022 I’ve had my Norton 8x2x1 combination sharpening stone a month and I’ve strictly been using it since getting it in the mail and I am very happy with it. It keeps my Boker stockman and case stockman very sharp I sharpen them every three weeks that way they stay sharp all the time. I would recommend this sharpening stone to anyone who wants a good sharpening stone for their pocket knives or hunting knives

Norton India sharpening stone

In November 2022 I ordered the Norton India combination sharpening stone because it is one that I have always wanted and I have had it now for two years as of November 2024 and it does a awesome job on my case xx Buck and Solingen Boker knives I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good sharpening stone to use. I even ordered the crystolon 8” Norton stone as well that way I would have both to use. I have many sharpening stones mainly antique ones but now I strictly use both my Norton sharpening stones to sharpen my knives all the time and keep them in the original box on a shelf so that nothing happens to them and they stay in excellent condition till I need to use them.

it works

The fine side sharpened all my blades. They all stuck to my fingernail. It also seems solid enough to last a lifetime

Norton 8x2x1 combination sharpening stone

On October 31,2022 I ordered the Norton 8x2x1 combination sharpening stone and received it in the mail on November 3,2022 and have been using it since then to sharpen my case xx 6347 and 6375 stockman knives and my Boker solingen Germany stockman and this norton stone is now my actual favorite sharpening stone to use. This is actually my very first Norton sharpening stone and definitely won’t be the last one that I actually buy I would definitely suggest and recommend it to anyone who wants a really good sharpening stone to sharpen their good knives with. Before buying the Norton India sharpening stone I was using sharpening stones I have that are over 100 years old and actually still use them occasionally but this new Norton sharpening stone is now actually my favorite one to use.

Good solid basic stone

Great stone to get a good working edge on your knives. I've used this to sharpen dull knives in 1095, VG-10, and S30V steels, and it cuts them well. Gets a good toothy edge that can slice newsprint if you know what you're doing. I use this before moving on to finer Spyderco ceramic stones. I was initially skeptical about this stone, seeing as how it's made in Mexico, but after comparing it to my grandfather's Norton IB8 (Made in the US of A), I can say that it's equal in quality. Make sure to put oil on the stone before your sharpen and after you sharpen, then dab it off to keep the stone from clogging.

A must for the serious hunter!

It is my prize stone! I sharpen knives for friends at times and they are always impressed! If someone bringes me a knife that is rolled over on the edge I first make the edges meet with diamond sharpener then out comes the Norton! Keep this India Stone well oiled and it will last fore a life time!!! Most people dont keep a constant 20 degree angel on the blade some knives are a just under 20 and some are just over 20 degres. GREAT STONE!!!

Slaughterman

Ex slaughterman here. Norton combo stones were the only ones I ever used. They are durable, fast acting and relatively inexpensive. At home I used light oil ( baby oil) to remove the swarf, at the plant we used only water. We used both the Silicon carbide and Aluminium Oxide stones ,but at home I only used the Aluminium Oxide combo stone. At home I finished off with a ceramic rod and a strop. At the plant no strop as leather is unhygienic and not allowed on the slaughter floor.

Excellent.

Works faster than a diamond stone and gets almost as fine as a ceramic. I've only ever used sharpening systems before, like the Sharpmaker or the DMT aligner, but this blows them away. It took me a little while to learn how to use it but its pretty simple, just keep a consistent angle, don't use too much pressure and wait for the burr to form, low odour kerosene works fine for lubricant. I'll keep my Sharpmaker for touch-ups and getting a polished edge on some of my knives, but I'll give my diamond stones away. I wish I'd learned how to sharpen freehand sooner, the cheapest and most effective way. This is an excellent product, great price and it is far better quality than the generic aluminium oxide stones.
