great knife great price

Just got my order. Took awhile not because of Knifecenter but a delay at the USPS. I like this knife a lot. Just a couple minutes of sharpening and its shaving sharp. I like the regular 498 combat better but I wanted this to have both versions, Military and Civilian. For camping etc. this knife will serve your needs and then some! A good sturdy knife, USA made Great price. I don't think you will find better for this price. I would not hesitate to buy from Knife Center again! Their customer service is excellent and their prices are great. Sharpen this knife use it well then pass it along to your kids. More than pleased all around!

a true bargain

1095 properly heat treated for under 50 bucks and American made. that's all ya really need to know to buy it. little points....comes with coating on edge. go cut some stuff and it will come off or hit your bench stones. bevels are decent on it for the price point. easily fixed if ya want to make it perfect. sheath is weak spot but ontario has great fixed blades and poor sheaths nothing new there. useable though. nothing else to say, ita a true bargain.

Good knife at good price.

First I got this knife because it didn't have a sharpened swedge. It works, and it works good. This is a knife good for states that don't allow sharpened swedges. Yes a Ka-bar is a bit better but at twice the price. And this is only 45 bucks. I saw this as getting probably the last RD6 they had. Glad I got this one, its going to be a great beater knife (If my nephew don't accept it that is...fat chance he won't :D )! I got the leather stacked air force survival knife model. But have to leave it at home due to the sharpened swedge. Reason for 4 star is well its not the super duper knife, but for a good knife at a good price this is great! No sharpened swedge makes it more usable for camping and hiking and such.

WTF?

The tip of the blade had 2 different angles on the reverse side and yet a 3rd on the obverse. The entire edge of the reverse side was folded from incomplete sharpening and blade was not honed. Is this Ontario knives now? Overall impression is this was made in some guy's garage, maybe his name is Ontario. The sheath had paper glued to it in several places on the back. A couple hours to rework the tip, 30 minutes to sharpen and hone, next is the strop. Would have preferred a brown sheath with the whitish\tan leather grip. On the other hand, 1095 and $45.00. Will make do.

Overpriced at $45

The finish on the blade (Zinc Phosphate Black) is so poorly done that it appears amateurish. The sheath is scuffed on the front and parts of the back are white instead of black. The snap-around closure won't fit around the knife handle. It's short by about 1/8". It's made in the USA but for under $50 you're still going to get less than you paid for. I don't blame KnifeCenter.com for this products quality. It comes in a blister pack and they couldn't have seen all of the flaws I've listed.
