Ontario Oyster knife

The object of an Oyster knife is to pry open an oyster. This knife has a partial (50%) metal tang inside the rubber handle and the rubber handle is soft and so it readily flexes. The traditional white Oyster knifes you see have a very hard plastic handle, so why I don't know if they are full tang, but they are hard enough to take the abuse/torque of a good Oyster pry. I bought it because I collect Ontario and love a good USA knife. I also like the blue handle which shows up nicely against a cooler full of ice. Traditional white handled varieties tend to blend in. On a good note, the blade tip is of excellent design. Better than the traditional white variety. Despite my immediate dissapointment in the tang, the knife is good. You probably choke up enough on the knife when working an Oyster not to care about the half tang. I would just expect the prying power in the handle if you need it.
