I Like It!

Let’s be clear, it is a budget folder, but it is American made in upstate New York. The one I received has zero issues. Its grind was good, it has good walk and talk, it feels solid, and I’m pretty sure the scales are stabilized walnut. Really, it’s a cool little knife.

Great Value for USA traditional wood slipjoint

Great small knife, wooden scales are good quality on mine ordered from knife center. Treating 1075 carbon steel w/ Edci rust inhibitor. Just a few strokes really left blade sharp. The spring tension is very stiff, but I believe it will wear in just right. The old hickory brand has a reputation for solid value high carbon knives.

i like it but has some flaws

It’s okay but the tip on mine sits a bit proud just above the scales while closed so it does snag a bit on clothing and can catch skin which will only get worse as I sharpen it

Nice alternative to Case

I'm not sure if this knife is discontinued, but I'm glad I was able to get one. It's basically a Sodbuster pattern, but comes sharp out of the box (I'm looking at you Case). I like the feel of the wood handles and it's bit larger and thicker than my Crossroads Sodbuster. The extra size fills my hand well. No issues with fit & finish on this example. It has a nice half stop (looking at you again Case) but the pull between half stop and open feels a little rough - given the materials, I expect that this will break in pretty quickly. The back spring is quite strong. Very Nice - I hope these remain available

Decent qua;ity

Mine is decent quality with no blade play, the point is lower than the handles when closed. I like the wood feel and look, would like to know if the slabs are solid or Dymindwood laminate. The action is still stiff to open and close, I would like to see a little more effort on fit and finish. The edge has helped up so far with the 1075 steel, I touched it up on a strop bat to bring it to working sharp condition, not razor sharp as this was for basic tasks anyway. Still not as classy as a traditional Sodbuster, needs tweaking.

High Carbon Steel

1095 just makes it IF professionally heat treated. As well as my beloved 80CrV2...And almost everything touted as Hardwood is a misdemeanour in most ways.

Good but.....

The blade tip is a little higher than the liners and just catches skin.. Bad. In the closed position you don't want to touch your hand in the end of the spine or you will draw blood. Grind was ok but the burr on the blade was huge. Not a huge deal if you can sharpen but why should you have to on a new knife. My wife can't open or close it because of the spring tension. She has quite a few slipjoints and has problems with none. Maybe I just got a bad one. Thankfully I live about ten minutes from the plant so I'll report back after I go check some other ones out.

American garbage

I love buying american-made knives but I have to say this was pure garbage. When I opened the box there was more grease on the knife than you could imagine. The blade wobble was at least a 16th of an inch from side to side. I had to take a hammer and beat the brass pins together to stop it from wobbling. Also, the second pair of brass pins in the middle of the knife One was so far out that it would cut your finger if you raked it across it. Absolutely disappointed in this knife. Quality control really needs to be looked at.
