Handles are stained as shown on pic. Text is not as dark as shown on pic. Looks great in kitchen. Came in a nice ontario knife box. Out of the box is sharp, but not razor sharp. 1095 carbon steel will rust if not cleaned right away and kept dry and oiled. Very country looking. I find myself not using the two paring knife as often bc paring knives are used more frequently and who wants to wash them every time they cut a fruit. These are more for butchering or cutting meat. Its full tang.
