Walking to the store or a tour in iraq, this is the blade for you! Smooth action, tight lock up, razor sharp! Instead of buying that new spyderco, buy every color of the rat 1's and have cash left over! Trust me, you will not find a better folder at this price point! American made or not!
Ontario RAT Model 1 Folding Knife 3.6" Black Plain Blade, Desert Tan Nylon Handles
I have this with the uncoated blade. I normally don't consider giving a 5 star rating to a blade under $100, but this one makes me break my rules. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this knife. Keep it cleaned and oiled and it's good to go. If you want details-------> The F&F are great. The traction provided by the scales is quite good. The blade was dead center. It was sharp OOTB. It opens and closes very easily with one hand. Either hand, actually. Opening with my left WOULD be easier if I reversed the clip. The lock up is solid. NIce jimping on the thumb ramp. I haven't assaulted a side of beef, sliced thru a cardboard adversary, or attempted to field dress a Buick with it, but it has handled all the EDC chores I've thrown at it. You may think that you don't need one, but I'm here to tell you that you WANT one. The price is way less than your cable bill or Starbutt's coffee for a week. What are you waiting on? (Just as an aside, I picked up a RAT2 recently. I like this larger version ever so much better.)
