Best knife for the money...ever!!!!!

Hands down this is the best knife I have ever owned for under $40. In fact, probably one of the top three best knives I've owned period. LOVE THIS KNIFE. Easy and fast to deploy. Comes super sharp. Looks great and locks up solid. Probably going to buy another one just because. You will not be disappointed.

Great

Great product, not an everyday carrier though. More of a tactical folder, to large for EDC. I like it alot, just wish they made a smaller version. Has great lock-up and its coating is durable. its EASILY worth the money.

Yes. Buy it.

Just received mine. I confess, I bought it only because Ontario is going out of business. I know it's well known for it's value, so I figured I should get one while I still can. I have no other Ontario knives. Anyway, I love it ten times more than I thought I would. It's not light, but I love the heft. I love the feel of the handle scales. I love how it flies open easily and solidly. Super sharp. I love the black blade with the green handles. The fit and finish are excellent. Smooth, solid, beautiful, even though plain. This is worth far more than it costs. I see no reason to spend more for a rugged, heavy duty capable everyday knife.

a little big for EDC...but still an amazing knife

ok, so my buddy bought this knife a couple years ago and as soon as i saw it i fell in love,so i bought one. I usually carry much smaller knives for an edc, but this knife (even though its 3.6 inches and pretty heavy) has turned into my regular edc. the overall quality, lockup of the blade, steel, and handle material is such a good value for only 35 bucks. i have batoned small pieces of firewood with this thing just to see how strong the lockup was, and it did the job just as good as a fixed blade would. also love the full flat ground blade style...perfect for cutting pretty much anything. anyways...if your looking at this knife then freakin buy it, you will not be dissapointed.

Probably the best utility folder

Just got mine and very impressed by build quality and well-thought-out design. If you need a heavy duty utility folding knife, buy this one without any doubts.

Great Quality

This item was on back order for several weeks, email communication with KnifeCenter was courteous and prompt! Once I did receive the knife, it was exactly as the description provided. This is too large for an everyday pocket knife but will be a great asset to every outdoor adventure.

Ontario Rat Model #1 Folding Knife

This knife is my EDC piece. I use it quite often and is another winner from Randall (the designer). What I like most about it is the blade is just the right width....not too wide, but wide enough to be very sturdy. After some 3 in 1 oil on the pivot, works like a charm for one handed use which is what I purchased it for. Have used if in yard maintenance, letter opener, & food preparation (last being the most telling test). Looking for a solid, useful, "front block" knife (the only kind of pocket knife one should trust ones fingers to), this is it & light to boot! Get one & not be sorry.....

razor sharp blade, and lightweight considering the blade size. the open contruction is nice since it allows the knife to be easily rinsed with water, or blown out with an air compressor. AUS8 takes a razor edge, holds it fairly well, and can be easily resharpened. The blade coating seems a bit cheap though. The handles provide adequate grip. A bit of milling in the liners would lighten the knife up even more, but may add a bit to the cost. At this price, use it and use it hard, then just get another.

Carry it every day

I have carried this knife every day for a while now, the knife came out of the box razor sharp. The handle is kind of grippy but doesnt provide the traction which you get from textured g10, none the less it does the job. Action and lock up excellent, after a few months i got some side to side blade play but after tightening it was fixed. The black coating chips off at corners but does not seem to come off too easily. For aus-8, the look and the feel of this knife i give it a thumbs up.

Changed my mind

Bought for edc. It was larger and heavier than I usually buy, but I have become used to that. It arrived very sharp, and very tight. The thumb stud would not budge it. I loosened the pivot and used it for a week, and it wore in beautifully,so I re tightened the pivot, and that was that. The first time I used it to cut up some cardboard I hit a staple, and the edge was demolished. I reground it to a more suitable angle, and have liked it ever since. With a bit of patience and time I think you too will like this knife. One con... scales too smooth for my taste.
