Ontario RAT 1

I have 2 RAT 2 models already and am so impressed, I decided to buy this RAT 1. I'm very glad I did. I like the feel of the handle. The blade came very sharp, and ready to work. Without any practice at all I can open it as fast if not faster than some assisted openings knives I have. Although our state has a 3 inch blade law, a larger size blade is permissible to carry when engaged in out door work or outdoor activities (camping, fishing, hunting or on a hike.) I like everything about this knife but I really like the size and larger dimensions of Ed it. I'm sure this will be able to handle outdoor adventures, while my smaller RAT 2's can be carried in more urban settings.

Nice

I really like this knife. I bought a Model 2 first (that's a nice little knife as well) and liked it, and wanted the larger version. This knife is larger and beefier than I anticipated. In a good way. It's not a lightweight knife, but I wasn't really looking for that. The overall fit and finish is really nice. I wish the action was a little smoother, but I can still flick it open with my thumb. It's got a nice solid click and the blade locks up nice. I like the design of the blade and the handle, I've got larger hands and the grip when opened is nice. The blade steel is ok, came sharp and sharpens nicely (if you don't know, AUS8 is not quite as durable as D2, but is more corrosion resistant). I feel like I could do some work with this knife. I really like the color and finish of the scales, they make it nice to hold. Overall, I think for the price point, this thing is great. I may buy one of the D2/micarta versions.
