Had my RAT 2 for about 2 months now and it's still going strong. The AUS-8 blade came hair shaving sharp. I use it for basic tasks (opening packages, cutting rope and wood carving) and it keeps it's edge pretty well. It was also very easy to get it back to a hair shaving edge when sharpening. The RAT 2 has a solid lock up and it deploys fast. It's the perfect size and weight for an EDC blade. However I did notice that the coating is starting to flake off and that the handle is a bit slippery. Overall it's a great knife and I would recommend it.

Just got my RAT 2 from the box.. I was a bit surprised for the size.. it's a tiny knife.. but it's perfect for EDC. I'm carrying a CRKT Hisatsu. Served me well. Now I'm home the RAT 2 will be my new carry knife.

Being a sucker for good knives in the $30 to $50 range I've found the Ontario RATs and Utilitacs to give you great value for the dollar. I have numerous Rats in the RAT1, RAT2, and RAT3 configuration and found them to be some of my favorites. The RAT 1 & 2 folders in particular are two of the best model EDC and light work camping and utility knives you can buy. I recently added this RAT 2 in Coyote Brown scales w/Black Blade to my collection and found it to be extremely sharp right out of the box while deploying fast and smooth as butter. While I do have some spring assisted knives, I'm not a big fan of them and you don't really have a need for the spring assisted models in the RAT series whatsoever.

Very good knife for the money. Good size for EDC. Good texture on the scales, good tactile grip without being so aggressive as to damage pockets. Well centered, Sharpe, and easy to open and close blade. Flat grind is perfect for every day tasks. Only negative is its not made in USA.

Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening, Handle Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Pocket Clip
Great Buy
Great knife for the price. I really like this Coyote color, looks good like in picture. Feels good in the hand, no hotspots, its comfortable. Thumb stud actions is nice and smooth as well as the closing. The jimping at the top wont tear your thumb off lol. Overall really good for price, bought as gift but might buy another lol. If i had to complain about anything would be the pocket clip is really stiff, takes some effort to push down sometimes but ill live.
